Question about Sony Mavica MVC-CD300 Digital Camera
I just upgraded to a Dual 2 GHz PowerPC G5 (Mac) using OS 10.3.8 with iPhoto 4.0.3 and now I can't download photos from my Sony MVC CD300. When I first connect the USB cable from the camera to the G5, I get a message stating: "You have inserted a disk containing no volumes that Mac OS X can read. To continue with the disk inserted, click ignore." However, when I click Ignore, nothing happens. I previously owned a PowerPC G4 that used OS 9.2 and my camera would either download or I could insert the mini-CD into my optical drive and read the images on it. Does anyone have any suggestions? Will upgrading to iPhoto 5 resolve the problem?
Even though Sony Mavica digital cameras are listed as compatible with iPhoto, the camera has to be set to Picture-Transfer-Protocol (PTP) before you can download. In addition, you will need to open Image Capture in the Applications folder. As soon as these steps are taken, the camera is recognized by iPhoto and all photos downloaded into Image Capture.
