Unfortunately your in a state where you need to
1. boot into a dos based application and run a virus remover.

2. slave that drive to a clean master that's protected with virus software

3. blow the drive away and start over.

Cant find scanned document on my Aspire how do i find?

Going with it's an Acer Aspire 5315 Notebook PC, which according to Acer Support comes with Windows XP (Home or Pro), or several basic versions of Windows Vista,

http://support.acer.com/acerpanam/notebook/0000/Acer/Aspire5315/Aspire5315sp2.shtml

WinXP:
1) Desktop screen

2) My Documents; Click on Start, then on My Documents

3) Downloads; Click on Start, then on My Documents. DOUBLE-click on Downloads.

Win Vista:
1) Desktop screen

2) Documents; Click on the Windows logo button, then on Documents

3) Downloads; Click on the Windows logo button, then on Documents. Then click on Downloads.

Anyway you can try scanning a document again, and see where scanned files go? Then delete the scanned file.
Look at the window, and what is stated at the top. This is where the scanned file will go.

Why is my laptop so slow? And how do i reboost my laptop without a c.d

> Why slow?

1. dying disk-drive, that takes a few attempts to read each file;
2. not enough RAM to run "too-many" simultaneous programs;
3. computer-virus;
4. slow Internet connection.

> without a C.D. ?

Either telephone Toshiba, and order a replacement CD, identical to the one they supplied when you bought the computer. Or, look for a program installed on your computer that you use to "burn" new CD/DVD disks, to create the "System Recovery" set of disks.

My aspire 3680-2633 is running super slow! How can I get it some speed

Hi,

There are two possible reasons for computer running slow:
1. A lot of applications are installed and the Windows is trying to load all during the startup process
2. The computer is infected with virus

Try uninstalling some softwares and also scan your computer for virus

If the issue still persists, the I would suggest a full system recovery, you can restore the computer back to factory default,to do so, follow the below steps:
Turn OFF the computer, now as soon as you hit the power button, keep on holding "Alt" key & keep on tapping "F10" key, i.e Alt+f10, it will open the recovery console, select full factory restore and follow onscreen instruction.

NOTE: This will erase all the datas on the computer.

Thanks and regards,
Jitha

I have an aspire 3053 laptop it is so slow its unbelievable is it possable to change the memory to speed it up its about 3 year old

Is your computer running Windows Vista Home Basic?
Does it have 512MB of RAM installed?
If yes to both questions, then adding 2048MB of RAM will _definitely_ speed-up your computer.

See: http://www.pcmemorystore.com/Acer-Aspire-3050%5E1733-ram.htm where you can buy 2GB (2048MB) of DDR2-4200 RAM for $38 US.

The usual cause for a "slow" computer is too-many programs running at the same time (not too many programs installed onto the disk-drive) competing for too-small amount of RAM.

Turn the computer off.
Disconnect the AC power-cord.
Flip the computer over.
Remove the battery.
Remove the screws over the memory cover (at the centre of the bottom).
You'll either see a stick of RAM, or an empty slot for RAM.
Remove any existing RAM, and insert the new stick of RAM.
Replace the cover.
Insert the battery.
Connect the AC power.
Boot it up, and it will run _MUCH_ faster.

I have an acer aspire 3680. I started up my computer and it said replace hard drive, immenident failure possible. It gave me the option to run startup repair but as is going thru the process, its keep...

Sounds like a virus. Remove the drive from the laptop and connect it to another computer using a USB cable. These cables can be purchased for around $20 from tigerdirect.com or compusa.com. After it is connected, scan the drive for viruses using your desktop antivirus program. If you do not have an antivirus program, I recommend that you download Microsoft Security Essentials for free from Microsoft's download site. http://www.microsoft.com/Security_Essentials/

Cant close down my acer laptop have to use the power button each time?

ou might want to run a spyware/virus scan. Seems like some process is running that your system can't kill during the shutdown process. While you're at it, you also might want to check your startup environment and see if there's anything in there that shouldn't. Clean out your temp folders...
c:\windows\temp
c:\documents and settings\<your account>\local settings\temp
c:\documents and settings\<your account>\local settings\temporary internet files\
...and install current patches & hotfixes.and for more info contact http://tinyurl.com/m7ghqz

Laptop no longer functions past blue acer aspire screen

Are youable to move your mouse pinter, it sounds like it's freezing on logon prompt, or if youhave only 1 user at your desktop. either way if you canreboot into safe mode by pressing f8 as it bootsup, then if you have some antispyware program run it. if you cant get into safemode, take the HDD out of your computer and scan it on another Pc that has an upto date virus/antipsyware program.

Failing that from safe mode again, modify the startup entries from the registry using "regedit" and remove anythign that looks dodgy.

If that doesnt work, you can run a repair install of windows, but for this you need to disc used to install the OS. this is LAST RESORT of nothing else works, and i would not reccomend doing this if you are not familiar with installing operating systems, as if you choose the wrong option it may wipe your pc.

try simpler options first. antispyware is most probable cause.
