I'm getting ready to upgrade to a Dslr in a week or so and have been really impressed with the pentax line of consumer digital slrs. Only question I haven't been able to find an answer to is the start-up time for the camera. Anyone here have that information?
Almost imediate. I feel a little lag only when entering menu or playback just after switching camera on - about a second or less. Not sure, but looks like I can focus and shoot imediately - time needed to put finger from switch to shutter button is enough for that.

It's about the time it takes to lift the camera to the eye. I have no figure to give you. A tip though: Levae the camera on. After a few minutes it turn itself to a wait status (the delay can be set in the menu). Then you save power. When the next pcture opportunity is seen just lift the camera to the eye, halfpress the shutter button and you are on the go again. I haven't seen a single complaint here about the startup time amd would say it is a non issue.
