I have a Philips Gogear SA2MXX04 which I am trying to instal into my laptop (vista) I keep getting a message coming up on the device manager saying that a problem has been detected on my device. It then tries to repair and comes up with another message saying 'failed to repair the device please reconnect to the computer and try again' I've done this and keep getting the same messages over and over?? The MPS player will not turn on, even just to charge when connected to the computer.

Philips go gear sa3245/97 not starting

You can download content to a Philips GoGear multimedia player using Windows Media Player or MusicMatch Jukebox in Windows. Earlier versions of Windows starting with 2000/ME and XP are compatible with GoGear. If the device is not recognized by the Windows XP operating system or is receiving error messages, you may have older versions of the necessary software installed. There also may be firmware issues with the GoGear device.

Instructions

Connect the Philips GoGear to another USB port on the computer. Sometimes USB ports go out, especially those in the front of the computer case. Try inserting the GoGear into another port and see if XP can now recognize the device.

Download Service Pack 1 or later for the XP operating system (see Resources). Philips GoGear can only operate on XP systems with at least Service Pack 1 installed. You may also receive an error message pertaining to the service pack when trying to insert the installation disc for the GoGear support software.

Install the latest version of Windows Media Player. Philips GoGear requires at least Windows Media Player 11. Windows Media Player 11 is available for XP .

Install the latest version of MusicMatch Jukebox (see Resources). Earlier version of this software may be causing error messages regarding missing MP3 tag information and missing tracks. Follow the download prompts, then unzip the folder and click on the "HDD_xxx.exe" installation file. The latest version of the software will be installed.

Install the latest firmware on the Philips GoGear. The actual firmware required depends on your GoGear model. Open either Philips Device Manager or Songbird, depending upon which management software you are currently using. Close all programs on the computer except for the Device Manager/Songbird. Connect the GoGear to the power supply and the computer. Click the "Repair" tab in the Device Manager and click "Repair," or click "Tools" in Songbird and select "Check for updated firmware," and the firmware will be updated on the GoGear.

How do i repair my Philips gogear when nothing works?

Have you tried opening the Philips Device Manager and clicking the "Repair" button - because that's exactly what the message is asking you to do.

Lost memory on my philips gogear 2gb

3 different problems:
ashton -
If your GoGear is an HDD model, then it is incompatible with both Vista and Windows Media Player 11. If you have Vista, forget about this player. If you have XP, roll back your Windows Media Player to version 10 and try running a Repair in Philips Device Manager - the damage might already be done, but it is worth a shot.

If you have an SA model GoGear, get the latest Philips Device Manager from www.usasupport.philips.com. Make sure you enter your correct model # in the website, or you will damage your player. Run an Update in the updated Philips Device Manager to upgrade the firmware to fix the freezing issue. Philips has a weird quirk that if you want to really upgrade the firmware, you have to also update the Philips Device Manager first or the Device Manager from the CD will give you a false positive: "Your device is already up to date."

mwungura - You problem may be hardware related, which will require a replacement, but here's how we'll find out: First, make sure the hold/lock switch is not engaged. Try turning your player on again. Consult your manuals for details on what I have just said. Second, try resetting the player - the Philips website/user manual will tell you how to reset your particular GoGear. Third, download the latest version of your Philips Device Manager by going to Philips website. Once you have done that, first run the Update function to upgrade the firmware. Finally, run the Repair function in the updated Philips Device Manager. If all of the above methods fail, call Philips and find out how to get an in-warranty replacement (or take it back to the store).

Guest - your player is screwed - there is no software available for fixing that problem. Call Philips and find out how to get an in-warranty replacement (or take it back to the store). The problem was caused because you deleted a key system file when you were trying to delete music - next time, be very, very careful.

Cant load Phillips gogear software

I would check Start --> Philips Digital Audio Player --> Philips Device Manager

If it is not there, check to see if the laptop is running Vista. If it is a Vista OS, get the firmware upgrade and updated software directly from Philips website

A problem with my philips gogear...

The Device Manager came with the installation CD. If you lost the installation CD, you can get the Device Manager by going to www.usasupport.philips.com and entering in your model #, and going to "software & drivers"

If Device Manager is already installed, you can find it by going to Start --> All programs --> Philips Digital Audio Player --> Philips Device Manager

Sync

Did you run the installation CD that came with the GoGear? (if you have Windows XP)
Grab the installation software from the Philips website (if you have Windows Vista)

If this was done, then:
1) Open up Philips Device Manager (Start --> All Programs --> Philips) - if you don't see it, then re-run the installation CD or grab the "Device/Firmware Manager" from the Philips website
2) Click on the Repair Tab, and look for a msg that says connect the player while holding the volume + button
3) Disconnect the GoGear from the computer and turn the GoGear off (if you haven't done so already) - hold in the volume + button and continue to hold it as you reconnect the GoGear to the computer; after holding the volume + button for up to 20 or 30 seconds, a window will open up saying that your device is being repaired (now you can let go of the volume + button); after the repair is successfully complete, your GoGear will be good as new

You will now be able to load the firmware upgrade by clicking on the update tab in Philips Device Manager. The firmware upgrade should resolve the issue permanently.

Syncing

It is possible that you do not have Windows Media Player 10 or 11. If you do have WMP 10, then try resetting the GoGear first (with GoGear turned on, find a small paperclip or other such device, and press it into the reset hole; it works when the player turns off). Try syncing again.

If you have WMP 11 or Windows Vista, perform a firmware upgrade:
just open up Philips Device Manager (Start --> All Programs --> Philips) - if you don't see it, then re-run the installation CD or grab the "Device/Firmware Manager" from the Philips website; click on the Update tab - this will give your player the firmware upgrade.

If these methods fail, reply to message using FixYa website (not my personal e-mail).

Wont load on computer!!! "Unrecognizable"

Back up your files on the device, if possible and then perform a Repair:
Disconnect the GoGear from the computer and turn the GoGear off - hold in the volume + button and continue to hold it as you reconnect the GoGear to the computer; after holding the volume + button for up to 20 or 30 seconds, a window will open up saying that your device is being repaired (now you can let go of the volume + button); after the repair is successfully complete, your GoGear will be good as new.

You will now be able to load the firmware upgrade that makes it compatible with Vista.
open up Philips Device Manager (Start --> All Programs --> Philips) - if you don't see it, then re-run the installation CD or grab the "Device/Firmware Manager" from the Philips website; click on the Update tab.

Also, it sounds like your new laptop has the Automatic synchronization option selected for Windows Media Player. To fix this:
1) Backup all files stored on your GoGear, as this process will delete all files from your GoGear
2) Go into Windows Media Player 11 with your GoGear connected to the computer (it will automatically sync and add new files one last time), move the mouse cursor over to the sync tab; a small black arrow will appear under the word "Sync"; click on the small black arrow and a dropdown menu will appear; select "Portbale media device" from the dropdown menu, and another dropdown menu will appear; select "Set Up sync"; a window will appear with some information on your device - uncheck the box that says "Sync this device automatically"; click Finish; This will eliminate the problem of Windows always adding songs/files you don't want into your player.
