SOURCE: Satellite A215-S7422 Lost BIOS Password

Hi there, and welcome to FixYa.
Two ways to solve your BIOS problem:
One:
Removing the battery inside for the bios and find the jumper for clearing the CMOS.

Two:
Download your flash BIOS from here:
http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/modelContent.jsp?ct=DL&os=&category=&moid=1852724&rpn=PSAFGU&modelFilter=A215-S7422&selCategory=3&selFamily=1073768663&selModel=1852724%7CPSAFGU
As you don’t have a diskette on your model, you might be able to install it on a memory key, and boot from that, depending on your previous BIOS setup???

SOURCE: toshiba satilite a215 s7422 bios password how to cleare

You'll need a special tool that only Toshiba has. I believe you can get yours cleared for FREE if you tell them that all of a sudden out of nowhere you have a bios password. Stick to that story because they've already admitted to the problem with many of their laptops. You'll have to find an authorized Toshiba repair center to take care of it for you. Otherwise I believe they charge around $100 to clear it.

Don't bother to try the cmos battery trick, it doesn't work on your model. The password is stored on an onboard chip.

SOURCE: how to remove bios password for Toshiba Satellite A200

If you know the current password, use it to enter BIOS SETUP.
Then, type a "blank" ("space-bar") as the "new" password.

If you don't know the current password, you're stuck;
this is a "security" feature to prevent a stolen laptop from being used by the thief.

this laptop most probably belonged to someone else who put a password on bios. Removing the back-up battery did not erase bios protections, only the date and time. To erase bios is necessary specially equipment and is not cheap.

My toshiba laptop is askingn for a password to turn on. I know this relates to the cmos battery. I have the toshiba satellite A215-S7413, how to i get to the cmos battery?

How to get to the CMOS battery

The Toshiba Satellite A215-S4747 Notebook PC's CMOS battery, is soldered to a bracket on the bottom of the motherboard.
The laptop has to be completely disassembled to access it.

In this photo showing the bottom of the motherboard, the CMOS battery is in the middle,

This is a link to a free Service Manual, detailing disassembly,

http://www.tim.id.au/blog/tims-laptop-service-manuals/#toc-toshiba

Go to the 11th line down. The one that starts with Satellite A10
Go across and click on A215

This is a PDF file. It may take up to 30 seconds before you see the first page, and additional time to fully download.
Suggest you let the file download all the way before looking through it.

1) Remove ALL power to the laptop. Remove the AC adapter (Charger) and Battery

2) Observe Anti-Static Precautions
Suggest you bu and wear an ESD wrist strap, and connect the alligator clip to a good ground source.
Average price is around $3 to $6.

3) Use a multi-compartment container for the various screws you will remove.
Mark each compartment for the area the screws come out of.
There may be as many as 60 screws and 12 different types.
Do Not mix them up.

(You can use a clean egg carton in a pinch. Mark each egg holder)

I have a previously owned Toshiba A215 S7444 Satellite Laptop, when booting up I get a black screen and it asks for the Phoenix Bios Password. The previous owner does not know the password and it is NOT...

You can either find the CMOS backup battery and take it out for a while to let the memory discharge, or look online to find a program which will crack the Phoenix password (these do exist, I had to use them when I was in business fixing computers).

Boot passward issue with Toshiba Satellite A215-S7413

The BIOS password is removed by the BIOS configuration, you need the BIOS password to get into the BIOS configuration. But if you do not have the BIOS password then you need to construct this dongle device.
TOSHIBA BIOS PASSWORD DONGLE
You can build a dongle that plugs into the printer port.Purchase a 25 pin male D sub connector and solder insulated wires to the various pins as listed below. The pins are numbered on the connector
http://www.tilman.de/sonstiges/toshiba/dongle1.jpg this is a picture of the finished dongle

Wire the pins as follows :-1-5-10, 2-11, 3-17, 4-12, 6-16, 7-13, 8-14, 9-15
Plug the finished dongle in the printer port and power up the laptop. The password will be reset, go into the BIOS configuration to check the BIOS password, you may have to disable the BIOS password.

For that you need to reset factory defaults settings for bios.
For reset bios u have to open back side of your laptop then u find motherbord circuit there.
pull cmos cell on motherbord for 15 minute then it reset to defaults.
Also u can reset with jumper settigns read carefully on mother bord there is 1 jumper near cmos cell u read there " bios reset or clear"
It is on 1-2 position right now set it in 2-3 position then power up then all bios settings are reset.

Toshiba Satellite A215-S7437 Laptop Password Problem?

You should first check if the pasword is set on the hard drive. If so you can simply change the hard drive and it will then boot and ask for the operating system disk. If not, you should try by removing the cmos battery and waiting at least 10 minutes. (this works on older laptops) however, the laptop's power suply cable and battery should be removed prior to performing this procedure.
