If you go to http://www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/dcbint/cpindex.pl?ctn=32PFL3505D/F7&scy=us&slg=en you can download the firmware update for your TV. If you read the Firmware Update Read-Me file it will contain all the instruction you NEED to follow to update your TV. One of the first firmware fixes should fix this issue. It is listed in their update history as ZPBF2QA_087_0_3202 - Set does not turn On intermittently. This leads me to believe you simply need a firmware update. If you do not wish to do a firmware update you can usually pay a repair shop a minimal fee to do it for you.
Hope that helps!
Parkerfromte, I was wondering if this solution has worked for you? I am having the same exact issue and have had this tv for less than a year. I called philips and they said it was out of waranty because mine was made in may of 2010 so of course I just missed it. I don't have original receipt but credit card statement but philips won't accept that. I will try the firmware update myself and let you all know of the results. Arthus2007, if this works you are my hero.
kingsilus I have the same problem, have been trying to update mine as well but since I just moved and its been taking longer to turn on time after time I have not been able to sit around and turn it on for hours on end. I will try to get it working and apply this update. would like to know how it turned out for you.
Applied the update this morning, very simple to do. I'll have to wait until later to let you know if it worked. My tv would take several tries to turn on, especially if the house was cold.
After applying the firmware update, it doesn't solve the problem. I'm guessing a weak power supply.
