U must have tools like a soldering iron,a roll of solders,a roll of desoldering braid or a desoldering pump and must have basic skills of doing soldering works?Yes,than tries these 2 websites like Tvrepairworld.com,Tvrepairkits.com to buy a whole tv convergence kit belong to ur tv make and model.The complete convergence kit will came with all and the most common components parts are dying and dead on ur tv make and model in the tv convergence board also with the kit is a tutoring DVD disc.Have no tools and never done soldering work before.Tries this repair at ur own term,after u finish could have complication might not solved ur tv convergence picture problems at all or completely.Or the shop will cost like $300-350 for parts and labors.

Hi,
This is problem of convergence output chips failure and it is fixable.
Replacement of convergence output chips on D board will solve tv problem, local tv repairman will do this job because convergence output chips replacement requires soldering work on circuit board.

Before you order new convergence chips to try to fix the double vision or 3D look on your tv check the solder points for the chips. If you are able to smack the side of the tv or tap the heat sink for the chips and it corrects the problem than chances are the chips are fine butone or more of the solder points are bad. When I looked at the joints for the chips I noticed hairline cracks around the base of the joint. Re-soldering the joints for the convergence chips solved my problem.

I have replaced the convergence chips. the red is smaller than the rest of the grid and out of range of adjustment solder connections good was doing same thing before i replaced the chips the resistors...
Both STK convergence chips are replaced.Resistors are look good and good solders connections dosen't mean anythings.Resistors must test it with a Ohm meter and replaced those resistors are not in torleraces of it colors bands.That why ur tv convergence picture problems are not solved.

Problem : Convergence Chip Failure ( common problem )

Here are some of the most common symptoms and example photos of a convergence problem
  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the tv settings then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.



You should be able to move them up, down, left, and right.

If you can't move them in all directions your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

Solution :

You need to replace the convergence chips and convergence resistors. Check the site www.TvRepairKits.com.They have put together a kits for most models. If you don't see a kitfor your set send them a quick note and they will put one together foryou. Their kits include a photo instruction guide, original OEM Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, pico fuses, etc.

Do not adjust any knobs as instucted in the previous thread if you TV have a convergence problem as shown below. Doing so will only make things worse.

Replacing only the ICs MAY solve the problem, however, many people have also had blown resistors requiring replacement. Also the convergence board should be checked for cracked solder. If you replace the ICs and the resistors are shot, the ICs may blow again almost immediately, meaning you may have to do the repair twice.
You do not have to replace any transistors to fix this convergence failure.
