When attempting to run the setup.exe from the companion CD, nothing happens. If attempted from a DOS shell, no feedback is given. I DID NOT follow the recommended instructions and plugged the cradle into the USB port and inserted the CD when asked for media. Of course I read the cautionary notes afterward about not to do this first. The notes don't explain what to do to recover. Suppose this disturbed something. What would be the recommended recovery path?

In my opinion you should check the user`s manuals because there is described the whole procedure. You can also check the Toshiba download site. There you can find all documents, even the Upgrade guide if you want to upgrade the PDA.

Try running the setup program manually. To do this, open My Computer, and then browse to your CD drive. Look for a file name setup.exe, and then double-click on it. It should start the setup process. If the setup process doesn't start, chances are you have a problem with the windows installer. To attempt a fix on it, click on Start, click Run. Then type sfc /scannow and press Enter. BUT before you do this, make sure you have the Windows CD installer.
This happens. Recovery/reinstallations sometimes takes many attempts. Only, you have to clean the CDs. Clean them with a soft cloth in + signs and not circular as one would think, CDs being circular. So, clean then top to bottom and right to left and vice versa.
hmmm! you should explore your cd drive and then install setup.exe of your office..... your prob cause could be that autorun file is corrupt in cd....so dont wrry just explore and install office...manually
In my openion, Virus doesn't want to be killed by anti-virus :D You need to download DM2000 (disk manager 2000 of SeaGate) and run it in DOS mode to format Hard-Disk.
1) to edit registry go to start / select run and type regedit. from there you are able to edit registry values. BEWARE because editing registry values may make your windows stop working. you should know what you are doing and you are responsible of the cosnequenses
2) a bat file is a batch file.
Batch files are files that allow MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows users to create a lists of commands and/or programs to run once the batch file has been executed.
3) create a file called autorun.inf and type inside
[autorun]
open=file.exe
save your file and write it in the cd you want to autorun
the file.exe part must be replaced with the executable you want to load when your CD autoruns
