Optio 450 Lens Stuck Problem

Some reviewers have stated that their lens gets stuck. Is this a frequent problem that needs to be fixed by Pentax? Or is this something that happens during power up/down and fixes itself?

The lens cover gets stuck sometimes. It just needs a gentle touch and it opens up. Only happened once to me. In my case it happened after my daughter held onto the camera with her finger on the lens cover.

Yes... It happens. The lens got stuck at power-up. powered off - still stuck. Powered on - Lens didn't move. Power off, on, off, shook the camera - Lens still stuck in halfways. pushed the lens in slightly, heard a click... scared I broke the damn thing, but seems to be OK... This happened about 4 weeks ago, no problems since.

Is the lens totally stuck? Does it even move a little? Did you try to power cycle the camera?

When i take pictures on my pentax optio s10 the pictures are coming out black but the lcd screen is working, is there anything i can do to fix this?

A stuck shutter is another common failure mode for digital cameras. The symptoms of a stuck or "sticky" shutter are very similar to CCD image sensor failure. The camera may take black pictures (for shutter stuck closed), or the pictures may be very bright and overexposed, sometimes with lines, especially when taken outdoors (for shutter stuck open). To confirm a stuck shutter, put the camera in any mode other than "Auto", and turn the flash OFF (you don't want to blind yourself for the next step). Next look down the lens and take a picture. You should see a tiny flicker in the center of the lens as the shutter opens and closes. If no movement is seen, then you likely have a stuck shutter. If so, please see this link for further info and a simple fix that may help.

Pentax Optio 50 Digital Camera Lens Error

Not really, it sounds like the lens has been bumped while it was extended. Unfortunately, the "buzz" you hear is the gears stripping one another. The only fix is to have the lens assembly replaced, which usually costs upwards of $200. I see this problem at least 3 times a week in my shop.

Hi: First of all, with that behavior, your lens are stuck. Probably the problem was on the assembly. Try to disassemble and assemble them again. Regards
