Belkin Basic Wireless Router Logo
Posted on Jul 18, 2011

Hello, I do not know much about troubleshooting internet connections. I just rely on Microsoft's "Diagnose Problem" option and most often than not, it works. But when I replaced our old Lynksis (maybe a 2006 model?) router and installed a Belkin router (I'm not sure of the model but it's probably a basic one, 2010 model. It just says "Belkin Surf Wireless Router".) my laptop (Windows 7) can connect to the Belkin router but cannot connect to the internet. It is odd since all of our other laptops (a Mac, another Windows 7 and a Windows Vista) can connect to Belkin and to the internet. It's sad since, the new router actually performs better than the lynksis but it's only my laptop that can't seem to connect through the net. However, my laptop can connect to the net through other routers/ wifi connections. So I guess the problem is my laptop-Belkin connection? I tried installing the CD that comes with the router and it can't fix the problem nor diagnose it in the first place. I waited around 20 minutes for the software to fix it but nothing happened. The manual doen't help also. I tried putting the IP address that from the Belkin settings instead of "automatically acquiring IP address" and that doesn't work. The Microsoft diagnosis states that it cannot configure or I have the wrong DNS configuration. But I changed it according to the IP setting from one of our laptops that is connected to the Belkin router which can connect through the net. This doesn't work also. I tried directly connecting the DSL to my laptop to see if the problem is DSL related but I can access the internet through this. Please help. Thank you.

Thank you for using fixya.

Being that your other computers in the network are working properly, you should switch the ip settings on your comnputer to automatically detect. That way your computer does all the routing and ip setting,

After you have set that back. Remove the power of your router, remove the power of your modem, and restart your computer.

Once your computer is back up, turn on modem, then the router.

It sounds very simple, but in most cases, it solves the problem.

Hope this information is helpful

SOURCE: i lost my lynksis befw11s4 router star up disc what can i do

Hi,

There are 5 versions of this model. The drivers for your LinkSys BEFW11S4 Router are available here. You have to select which version you have and can be found at the sticker underneath the router.

Good luck and kind regards.

SOURCE: Cisco and Lynksis Routers

Hi, you don't have to send it to me. I can help you with that. First we will check if the router is still working. Simply connect a computer to port 2 or 3 or 4 or 5, and lets see if the computer will get an ip address of 192.168.1.100, if it does there is a chance that this could work.

To checked ip address:

After connecting the pc to the befsr81, puss the reset button for 30seconds when the power is on, wait for 1 minute, reconnect the power. The power light of the befsr81 should be steady and the port light where you connected the pc should be lit.

Go to the computer. if pc is XP, click START then click RUN, in the open field type cmd then click ok, it will take you to the black screen. on the black screen type ipconfig, click enter. If the ip is 192.168.1.100 that means that we are in business.

I'l wait for your next post so i will have an idea on whaT IS GOING ON.

if you're certain your internet connection is good then you could try these.
go to control panel and open the internet options and delete the browsing history including temporary internet files.
if that doesn't work then go to the advanced tab in internet options and reset the settings to their default.
if that doesn't work then try the connections tab in internet options, click the lan settings and make sure it's on automatically detect settings or nothing.

Can't get on net

Step 1:
check your firewall and antivirus settings
Step 2:
Internet Explorer problems and errors can ruin your browsing experience. Slow download speed, constant crashing, security concerns, and multiple pop-ups are some of the issues many IE user complain of. Many have switched to Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome for these reasons. If you are happy with Internet Explorer and want to fix the problems with the browser, there are a few ways to diagnose and troubleshoot them at the same time.

Determine if you are having a problem with the overall IE software, or with little things, such as video or sound playback. If you are having problems with small applications, the issue is probably something having to do with the Add-ons that Internet Explorer has. Click "Start," then "All Programs," navigate to "Accessories," select "System Tools," and then click on "Internet Explorer (No Add-ons)." This will allow you to verify if you have a problem with add-ons. If you do, you can still use Internet Explorer without them. Reset your IE settings. If you are having problems with the overall execution of the software, it could be that your settings aren't correct. Go into "Internet Options" and then "Settings." Scroll through the settings until you see "reset settings" and click on it to reset the settings. This will give you a clean slate to work with and should eliminate many of the larger problems. Run the Microsoft Malicious Software Removal Tool (See Below). http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=AD724AE0-E72D-4F54-9AB3-75B8EB148356&displaylang=en Tips for solving problems when Internet Explorer crashes or stops working http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Tips-for-solving-problems-with-Internet-Explorer If you have malware or spyware, it is probably causing problems with your setup. Clicking on the removal tool will allow your computer to diagnose and remove the virus. Update Internet If you run the newest version of Internet Explorer, you'll find that some of the issues you are experiencing have been fixed.

My psp 1000 wont connect 2 the internet and it says "an internal error has occured. (80410AOB)" any ideas would be greatful :)

An internal error is a hardware failure, so unless you know how to diagnose it, you'll probably have to end up replacing the motherboard. AKA Get a new one.

Hello. my problem goes this way. we have WiFi router at home and we can connect our laptop with it so we can access internet easily. there's no problem about when last night i dont know why i even...

Theencryption key secures your data from unauthorized access. The router's password is a Passphrase or the WEP or WPA orWPA2 encryption key. The Passphrase generates the WEP or WPA or WPA2 encryptionkey and this is in the router's wireless settings. To connect to your wireless router, configure the router'swireless settings ie SSID, plus the WPAor WPA2 encryption key and then configure wireless cards in the laptops and orcomputers with these router's wireless settings. Then the laptops and desktopcomputers can communicate with your wireless router.

My computer keeps saying ''webpage cannot be displayed''

Hello monkie_gurl2,

This usually happens when the browser cannot access the internet. Make sure your firewall settings allow the browser to access the internet. Also, make sure you are connecting to the internet ok by checking email. And internet explorer can help diagnose the problem by selecting the 'Tools' menu option and then selecting 'Diagnose Connection Problems...'. Finally, the internet explorer settings can be examined and changed by selecting the 'Tools' menu option and then selecting 'Internet Options'

I thank you for giving a rating to this solution if it has been helpful.

Have a great day,
