Hi there, I have a Panasonic SA-XR25 5.1 surround sound system. Recently the sound has become distorted out of the speakers usually when first switched on for the day. The curious thing is that if you change source on the TV ie. go from tv to dvd and back again the distortion will disappear. Do you have any advice as to what might cause this?

SOURCE: no sound through Panasonic SA-HT930 surround system

I've had similar problems in the past. With audio problems trace the problem from the source to the amp.

1. What output is the cable box using for audio, digital or analog?
2. Is there a setting in the cable box to switch between digital and analog?
3. Once you have determined the output of the cable box check to make sure that it's going into the right output on the panasonic
4. This is where the problem usually is...what is the receiver expecting for sound, analog or digital?
5. Switching between the sources...the sound should be on one of them.

SOURCE: Sound distortion comes and goes...

First of all, try to have this repaired under warranty. Usually these sets have a 1 year warranty. Second, make a recording of the problem. That will help the servicer to understand the problem.

If you are not successful at the warranty repair, the first thing to look for is a power supply problem or poor connections at the audio amp area. I will attempt to locate more details while you persue the warranty claim.

Please keep us posted.

Thanks,
Dan

My panasonic dvd stereo system sa-pm91d when the volume is turned above 25, it plays distorted sound, it sounds like I have incorrectly tuned a radio channel even when using the auxiliary input

Hi Gusma,
If you have Distorted sound.
These may be the causes of the problem:

  • Make sure the speakers wires are properly connected.Check the color codes, be sure they are rightfully followed.
  • - Shorting (bare wires touching) of positive and negative speaker wires.
  • - Using speakers with an impedance lower than that rated for this unit.
  • - Straining of the speakers through excessive volume or power.
  • - Using the unit in a hot environment without proper ventilation.
I am also including a link to the User Manual. Read it thoroughly.
Best of Luck,

Hi, I have a Panasonic sa-ht870 DVD home cinema system to which the remote has stopped working however the front 2 speakers still work and so do the controls on the DVD player. I bought a new remote and...

Is it a universal 'Generic' remote or dedicated Panasonic for the SA-HT870?
If generic, it may not have compatible firmware built in for Surround function.
If dedicated, check menu settings and OP manual - there may be an option that is disabled there.

Replacing Panasonic SA-HT500 with Newer Model that has HDMI Input

ANY amp will be ok, as long as the wattage of your new amp does not exceed the wattage of your speakers. Otherwise you could overdrive your speakers and damage them. First clue, if you turn up the volume and the speakers start to shut off and on you are pushing too much power to them.

Replacing a Surround Sound System Receiver

the difference is the "same speaker connections"
the front and rear will connect the same but the subwoofer is amplified by the HT75 , and the HE75 does not have an internal amp for the subwoofer speaker , only a "pre output"(has to be amplified)
