Best way is to use paint thinner. Where some gloves to protect your hands, then put a little paint thinner ( can get at any paint or hardware store) on a semi damp terry cloth towel/rag. And apply it the area where paint is and slowly work it in and, it will de-solve it, and repeat process until paint is gone. Be careful not to have my any open flames and do not smoke around it. Paint thinner is very flammable. Thanks Mike

Kirby g4 power will not ingage

There could be a few reasons. Try a different power outlet and check the cord and belt. Next there are two safety switches on the Kirby that need to be engaged for the vacuum to start. One is on the mini-emptor to make sure an outer bag is engaged, the second is on the front nozzle to make sure the nozzle or hose is attached. You can see pictures here.

I need to remove the outer bag from my Kirby upright. The inner bag was not attached and there is mung everywhere.

In order to remove the outer jacket from your Kirby do the following.
Detach the top bag clip from the handle support. There is a plastic piece, just below the outer jacket, called the mini emptor. Turn it to the right to remove the entire bag assembly. Removing the outer jacket is dificult and even harder to put back on so this is what I would do.
Unzip the outer jacket as you were going to change the bag. Remove the paper bag. You will then see a long black tube, that has a 90 degree elbow at the top. That elbow is attached to the inside of the bag with a snap type strap. Remove the strap, then you will be able to move the tube, while you clean out the inside of the bag. When finished put everything back where it was.

I have a G4 and the plastic at bottom of bag is cracked

Hi There,

Well sort of. For the G4, the bottom boot is sold with the internal fill tube that inside of the outer bag, where the paper bag connects. These two parts are sold complete as an assembly already put together. You'll just need to take off the strap at the bottom of the boot that holds the outer bag onto the boot. This strap is sometimes difficult, and sometimes it's easier to just purchase a new strap and install it.

Here are direct links to the parts that you'll need on our website:

Kirby G4 Mini Em-Tor with Fill Tube Assembly. Kirby Part # 199493S

And here's the bag strap that you may just want to purchase so you can just cut the old one off:

Kirby Vacuum Bag Clamp. Kirby Part # 196599S

I just notice when I went to change bag in my Kirby G4 that the whose inside was split open, which made all the dust fill up in the bag. How do I get a replacement part for this and what is that part...

You do not need a whole bag. The bag fill tube is replaceable. can be temp fixed with duct tape and new one installed at home. vacuum inside with another vac and you will be set to replace

Dust smell when running g4 kirby

The dusty smell coming from my G4 finally drove me to search out the problem. As it turned out, the fill tube had cracked near the top of the mini emptor (the boot) and dust and crumbs were escaping from the tube and into the cloth bag. I tried to repair the split with duct tape and electrical tape, but to no avail. I finally gave up and ordered a new fill tube online for about $8. This took care of the problem, and the machine works like new with no more dusty smell.

Kirby G4 Vacuum "BOOT"?

Greetings from GoVacuum,

The bottom part of the bag, which you referred to as a "Boot" is actually called a Kirby G4 Mini Em-Tor with Fill Tube Assembly. Kirby Part # 199493S. The part is only available to purchase with the fill tube assembly, this is the part that the disposable paper bag connects to inside the cloth outer bag.

Kirby has redesigned this fill tube, as the original design sometimes would cause the inner fill tube to crack. The Mini Em-Tor Fill Tube Assembly, part 199493S comes already assembled with the "boot" at the bottom, and the vacuum bag collar (the part the bag actually attaches to) at the top of it. You will need to remove the cloth outer bag from your old part, and put it onto the new "Boot". The cloth bag connects the "boot" with a special zip tie, which is Kirby Vacuum Bag Clamp. Kirby Part # 196599S. Where it is possible to remove the bag clamp without breaking it, I will warn you that this is no easy task. Spare yourself the aggravation of having to try and remove the clamp, and just cut the bag clamp with a knife or scissors.

You will also have to remove the top of the bag collar at the top of the cloth bag by releasing the fill tube from the inside of the cloth bag.

All of the parts are located on our website, www.govacuum.com. If you have any questions about the repair, you can get me on a live help, chat service located in the top right corner of our website. I'd be happy to walk you through this.

Thanks,

Chris Jones
