I've been using an Optio 550 since its release and I have recently encountered a problem I'm not sure how to change.
This past week I clicked off photo Imgp6665 and found that it labeled it as Imgp0001. I don't recall resetting the camera (as a matter of fact all settings remain the same). Have I done something wrong and how can I get it to continue counting photos above 6665?

Re: optio 550 Picture Count Problem
I have the 555 and there is a place if you look in the manual that you can set things to either stay permanently or change when you turn the camera off...I am sorry I cannot remember offhand what it is called. It is in the menu and I think it might be like User Settings....anyways....one of the options is the picture counter. You can either have it be continuous or have it go to zero each time you reformat the card. Personally, I like it to go back to zero with each reformat, but I know others do not. Anyways, maybe you inadvertantly fiddled with this setting???

have you tried changing the camera's settings back to default?
in the camera's menu, find 'reset settings' or 'factory settings' or something like that to reset the camera settings.. you might have messed with some settings, otherwise it may be hardware failure, may be the LCD of your camera.. hope not so.. lol
My 550 developed the same problem in 2005. I found mentions online about wiring coming loose from the circuit board due to heat exposure. Some felt it was a defect Pentax should have fixed free, others admitted they may have left the camera in hot cars, etc. I got a new camera but always wanted to get the 550 fixed as it is a really sweet camera when it was working. Brokencamera.com says they can fix for between $70-$100. I think I'm going for it.
