S4i video problem

I just picked up an S4i and everything is fine except the video mode. The problem is viewing the video in ACDsee. There is sound, but the picture is not displayed. Only a few green static lines appear. Is there something I'm missing re: settings?

A solution could be to re-install the software, but if the video file is corrupted (can happen) then I guess that there's no other solution than re-recording it.

I don't think ACDsee works with the videos from the camera (I've had troubles even trying to play music files). The best thing to do IMO would be to use the quicktime player, since its a lot more stable and faster than windows media. If you don't have quicktime installed, you can download it here: http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/ Maybe you've tried this already, so tell me if you still have problems with it!

I have only had my S4i for three weeks now and haven't played too extensively yet. Since I want to upgrade my Mac I haven't installed any of the programs provided by Pentax. And everything works under Jaguar. I connect the camera with the USB cable and switch it on. The Mac then launches a small program just to retrieve all the files I've designated. (I don't know the English name of the program but it is native of Mac OS X and it also transfers files from the camera to iPhoto.) I have set this program to automatically start a slide show (also native OS X) of the images captured. All files, jpg, wav and avi, by then are already in the specified folder. If there are wav or avi files QuickTime launches automatically and all I have to do is click on the play button. If you have OS X I advice you to go to the preferences of the programs provided by Pentax and set them so they won't autolaunch when you attach the camera. (I had to go to the preferences of my photo loading program to prevent iPhoto from launching and having the images transferred straight into iPhoto.) Then attach your S4i and see what happens. The odds of you having OS X are slim and I have no knowledge of Windows. Still I assume Windows should be able to do the same tricks without programs like ACDSee. One thing I noticed is that my system is not happy when I switch off the camera before having removed the device from my desktop. Likewise for disconnecting. It warns this may result in loss of data. If I weren't of any help I expect someone else will. Alternatively you could send an e-mail to Pentax. Good luck and tell us how you fared.

In the set up menu you need to set the video out to PAL or NTSC depending where you are in the world.
