Had the same problem all of a sudden one fine morning. It's probably the shot button itself which is a 2 position switch and needs intricate repair or replacement. Unfortunately, it has to be looked up by a technician as the whole camera must be taken apart. Best of luck.

In the shooting mode, press up-arrow on the multiselector (marked with a lightning bolt). Select the no-flash icon (lightning bolt in a circle with a slash through it), then press OK.
Your Nikon Coolpix 3200 Digital Camera is equipped with a AF assist illuminator which makes focus easier when shooting in darker situations.
In spite of that, on occasion, it is quite possible that the camera will fail to achieve sharp auto-focus.
Point and Shoot cameras use a contrast-based focusing system: this works only when the contrast in the composition is high.
When you press the shutter halfway down the camera attempts to focus, but if it shows red brackets it implies that the focus has not been achieved. Please take care to note this indication, and if you do not see the Green "Focus Lock" indicator, please attempt to recompose the shot.
Release the shutter, press halfway through again and wait for a focus lock.
The sensor on a P&S camera is very small (about 8-9x smaller in surface area compared to DSLRs)
In low light conditions achieving focus can be a challenge for P&S cameras. These are technical limitations which are not specific to your camera but common to all cameras in the same segment across various camera manufacturers.
Always check the batteries first but if is it still giving the same fault, your camera is faulty. It should be taken to an authorized repair centre for a repair estimate. Very few digital cameras have any user-serviceable parts.

your camera works fine, but they made it like this, so you should push the button all the way down, not half way, because when you push half way, the camera focus on the target, and the little lasers flash, but that is no shoot... on the other hand, if you push half way the button, the camera focus on the target, then you push it more, then you shoot the picture and it is saved. Try to be more careful about what means all way down and half way down. Hope it was helpful
