LG GH22NS70 Super multi DVD Rewriter just used this to replace our original drive that kept erroring our cd-r discs but it wont read discs/cd rom games... click on icon and the tray opens and just keep saying put in a disc and the screen auto chanes to `burn` mode cant play the pc games.... is it cos its a `re-writer` and not a `dvd drive` ? any help would be appreciated
Power cable attached, interface cable attached, (Dta cable), and the small audio cable attached, plus computer on, and Windows loaded.
1) Click on Start
2) Right-click on My Computer
3) Left-click on Properties at the bottom of the list
4) Left-click on the Hardware tab
5) Left-click on Device Manager
6) When Device Manager loads, left-click on the + sign to the left of - DVD/CD-ROM drives
7) Right-click on the name of the optical drive.
8) Left-click on Uninstall
A Microsoft 'squawk box' will come up,
"Warning you are about to uninstall this device"
It's okay. Click on OK.
Close all windows, go back to your desktop screen.
Turn the computer off normally. (Start > Turn Off Computer > Turn Off)
Wait 1 minute. Turn the computer back on.
You should get a pop-up out of the system tray, "Found new hardware", and perhaps another one will follow, "Found XXXX DVD drive"
No? Doesn't work?
Try using another 4-pin standard Peripheral power cable.
(The IDE harddrive shown, is just an example of a device that uses a 4-pin standard Peripheral power cable. Mistakenly referred to as a 'Molex' power cable)
Make sure the interface cable (Data cable) is plugged in tightly.
