I think it is pretty obvious that your camera isn't going into full 12 hour mode and is displaying a combination of 12 hour (am/pm) and the usual 24 hour time. This could not come from anything other than a firmware error, and will be common to all SV's with the same firmware version. Almost certainly Pentax will fix it with a firmware update within the next few weeks to a month once they know about the problem. So you've proved that the problem is in the review mode in the camera. Is it also embedded in the date for the file and in the EXIF information included in the file? I guess that if 24 hour time works, the temporary fix might be just to use 24 hour time.

How to set time and date on pentax optio M30

The date and time (and a lot more) are automatically stored with every picture in its EXIF metadata. Any photo viewing/editing program should be able to display this data. To print this data, please consult the documentation for whatever program you're using to print your pictures. Depending on the program and printer you may print the date on the image, in the margins, or on the back.

Show the Date stamp on the picture

One reason why the date stamp is not showing would be that you have not set the system date/time. The date/time resets everytime you take out the battery. Please go to this link and download the userguide... http://alpha02u.c-wss.com/inc/ApplServlet?SV=WWUCA900 file name : PSS500IXUS500CUG-EN.pdf ...Go to page 26 which will tell you how to set the date/time and then go to page 109,113 for the date/time to be displayed on the photographs. Please tell me if this helps

Managing the Time and Date

I have found the answer to the date problem. The date is hidden and will not show up unless you insert it during printing. When printing in ACDsee select print image, then click on the CAPTION tab, and de-select the box the says "insert date at lower RH corner" or somthing like that. Once it is de-selected it will stay off untill you select it again. By the way you can look into the camera with Microsoft explorer, or any program to copy or open the picture. In my case it is "drive G". I opened Photoshop and drilled down into the camera through drive G, and was able to open the photo without any special dedicated program.
