HX4705 Will not power on

I have been using my Hx4705 for about a year now. It worked fine yesterday, and was fully charged. Today when I went to turn it on, it would not power on. When I placed it in the cradle there is no indicator light showing that it is charging. I checked to make sure the battery lock is on and indeed it is. I tried a soft reset and nothing. I removed the battery and replaced it and again nothing. I removed the battery and left it out for 30 minutes and then replaced it, and nothing. I did a hard reset, and still nothing. Any ideas?

Need to transfer files from the Hx4705 main memory to the installed SD card using only the HX4705

Go to 'Start > Programs > File Explorer'. Chose the directory containing the file you want to copy by tapping the application's top bar. Tap and hold the file to be copied, until a context menu pops up. Select 'Copy'. Now, choose the Storage Card from the top bar. Once there, tap on 'Menu > Edit > Paste'. Your file should be copied.
Hope it works for you.
Cheers! Carlos

Dropped; now dead

You will have to open up the PDA case and take out internal battery (round one). It might just need to be replace or resitted. Next time, backup your data to a memory card.

Pda grrr help

Hi frogger, It could be a lot of things but if its brand new (less than a few days) save yourself the time and potential future problems by returning to the place of purchase. Explain your experiences and they will swap it out with another new unit or at least a reputable reseller will. If you get the runaround by a clerk ask for the dept manager.... Good luck and let us know what happens.

Totally Dead

I had the same issue. Got it fixed at PPCTechs at $60 + shipping. Better than buying a new device http://www.pocketpctechs.com/main~unit~HP_Compaq_iPAQ_hx4700-265~area~repairs~item~PPCDIAG~name~HP%2FCompaq+iPAQ+hx4700+Pocket+PC+Diagnostic+Service.htm

Is an audible alarm software available?

I'm not sure of the HX4705's capabilities to sound multiple alarms, but I have downloaded a free alarm program called Wolfclock to my iPaq rz3715 which I use for the exact same reasons (meetings, wake up, take medication...) Try this link: http://www.pocketpcfreewares.com/en/index.php?soft=1045

WIFI w/WEP

Hi, I use 128 wep at home with no problem. A couple of points: 1) NEVER use the 'phrase' option. 2) Always type out the key in UPPER case, everywhere. On the iPaq, on your router, everywhere. It is NOT supposed to make a difference when you enter a hex key, but some hardware will see 'a' and 'A' as different. A sample key would be: 1234567890ABC1234567890ABC1234567890ABC 3) Alway s do a 'battery reset' after configuring the adapter. That is, pull the battery for 10 seconds and then put it back in. A soft reset does not reset the WiFi hardware. You will not lose any data (this is NOT a hard reset).
