Doesn't matter if you have an Intel Pentium D processor.

What does matter is what Southbridge chip is on the motherboard. It handles the audio (Integrated Audio) of the motherboard.

If this motherboard is an Intel D945GCCR model, here is the driver download page from Intel Support,

Intel has an automatic update and detect drivers feature.
I would suggest using it.

(The digital signature has been verified, so click on RUN.

I would have clicked on RUN anyway. It is INTEL, sheesh!)

[ Southbridge Chip:

The Southbridge chip is part of the motherboard chipset.
The Northbridge chip, and the Southbridge chip.

{Does not apply to motherboards supporting Intel Core i3, i5, i7, and i9 processors. Different technology is used }

The Northbridge chip was so aptly named because if a motherboard were a map, the Northbridge chip would be setting to the 'North'.
{It's located immediately south of the Processor, under an aluminum heatsink}

The Northbridge handles the faster capabilities of the computer.
The Processor, Ram Memory, and High-speed graphics.

High-speed graphics being AGP, or PCI-Express.
A graphics card inserted into a white PCI slot, or Integrated Graphics on the motherboard, is Not high-speed graphics.

The Southbridge chip handles the slower capabilities of the computer.
Audio falls into this category.

Motherboard Diagram. (The technology shown fits the Intel D945GCCR motherboard)

More information on the Northbridge chip. (And Southbridge. Click on the blue southbridge in the first sentence )

The Intel D945GGCR motherboard uses a;

A) Intel 945GC Express chipset GMCH for the Northbridge chip.

(Intel 82945GC. There is an aluminum finned heatsink sitting on top of this chipset.
Looks like a meat tenderizer.
If it wasn't you would see Intel i945GC - 82945GC )

B) Intel 82801GB for the Southbridge chip.

(ICH7 - 82801GB. This part number you can see. No heatsink)

C) RealTek ALC883 audio

More information on the Intel 945GC chipset,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_intel_chipsets#Core_2_chipsets

Under the Chipset heading look down to 945GC, then read across.
Now you know what;

Processors are supported
Ram Memory is supported
Graphics are supported

SOUNDDEVICENOTFOUND

Hello

Check to see if the sound driver is still installed. Go to "Settings," "Control Panel," "System" and "Device Manager. Click to expand "Sound, video and game controllers." Your sound driver should be displayed. If you deleted it accidentally, it will say something like "No sound driver installed."

Check the status of your sound driver if it is still installed. Right-click on the name of your sound driver and click "Properties." It should say "The device is working properly." If it does not, or if it says it is working properly and it really does not, you will have to uninstall your existing driver and install a new one or complete a System Restore.

Complete a System Restore to restore your computer to a date before you suspect your sound driver was deleted. The best way to do this is open your general help directory (on a PC, go to your desktop and press F1) and search for "System Restore." Follow the steps when prompted and you will be shown a calendar with highlighted dates. These are dates during which a snapshot of your computer's settings was saved. Pick the date closest to the current one to ensure the least number of potentially vital files lost. If the sound still does not work, repeat the process, going back to the second closest date and continue until you have sound or you have run out of dates. If this happens, you will need to install a new sound driver.

Uninstall the existing sound driver if you still have it installed. You will be able to do this by going to "Settings," "Control Panel," "System" and "Device Manager." Click to expand "Sound, video and game controllers." Now right-click and select "Uninstall."

Download and install new sound driver. Choose one from the "Driver Files" website or search for one according to your operating system in a search engine. Follow the installation instructions

Hi my pc isnt playing any sound, iv gone into the control panel and its showing me there isnt a sound driver applied to my computer when iv tried to apply one it wont let me, does this mean my sound card...

-Maybe one of the cause that you can't install the sound driver is because there is a sound driver currently installed on the system that is corrupted .
-Try to uninstall first under device manager and reboot system then reinstall the sound driver.
-After this steps you still can't install the driver, check if the current sound driver that you are trying to install is compatible driver for your system.
-Check manufacturer website for system specification.
