Regaining ipaq4155 partnership after reset

My iPAQ lost battery power to the point where it hard-reset. Now that I recharged it, my ActiveSync no longer recognizes it and wants to create a new partnership. Is there any way I can re-establish the partnership? If I create a new one with the same name, it returns an error message. Thanks for the help!

HP iPAQ hx4700 need default password

If you can't remember your passcode, you may have to do a hard reset(factory settings) if you have a sync folder on your computer, there is your backup. To do a hard reset: 1. Remove your iPAQ from the cradle, making sure that it's running on the internal battery power. 2. Use the stylus to press down the recessed reset button on the back or side of the iPAQ. 3. While the reset button is held down, press the On/Off button. 4. Release the reset button. When you press the On/Off button again, your iPAQ turns on and all your files are gone. To avoid repeating this major disaster in the future, you should back up your iPAQ files on your desktop PC. Activesync will generate another folder, and you will have to rename your pocket pc. But once your past that point, open both folders and drad and drop into the new folder. Hope this helps.

My Dell x51v Axim suddenly no longer communicates thru ActiveSync. Even though it is firmly connected with a USB cable, ActiveSync will no longer recognize it. I have uninstalled and reinstalled...

Hi,

First try a "soft reset" - this clears all open programs and "reboots" the Pocket PC. When the Pocket PC powers back up, you'll start with all active programs closed and the device should be ready to use. This procedure is intended to reset the Pocket PC if it is malfunctioning or has become bogged down.

This reset is also sometimes necessary after software is installed.

The X51v can be soft reset by pressing the recessed button on the rear of the unit above the battery.

Try to reconnect with your PC. If that fails - on the Axim - go to start - settings - connections - usb to pc and untick enable advanced network functionality - then see if you get a connect.

If you are still not getting a connection you will have to try a "hard" reset. However be aware that a "hard" reset wipes the RAM and returns the Pocket PC to its factory specs.

In effect, the Pocket PC will be just as it was when you purchased it.

All data entered, preferences set or software installed (other than ROM updates) on the Pocket PC after purchase will be lost after a hard reset and will have to be transferred or reinstalled via ActiveSync / Windows Mobile Device Center.

The hard reset is performed through the following procedure;

With the unit turned on, press and hold the power button at the top of the unit. While holding the down power button, use the stylus tip to press the "Reset" button mentioned above. Allow the screen to fade to off. Release both buttons. The unit will power back on and display a menu to confirm the hard reset request.

Make sure you have downloaded and are using the newest version of microsoft activesync.

Try the reconnect and let me know how you get on.

Hope this helps. Please do rate my answer. Thanks.

Data erased from iPAQ hx4700

If an ipaq loses power , then all data in RAM is lost. It's important to keep it charged. It's also important to do regular backups..... so there are two backup options - one is thru Activesync which will backup to your PC and one is the IPAQ's own backup program which will backup to the IPAQ FILE STORE (area in ROM) or a SD card. I do the Activesync backup every time I sync and then the IPAQ backup about once a week or immediately before a system change. Activesync backup ------------------------ Here is a guide which best explains it http://www.cewindows.net/faqs/activesync/backup.htm this guide suggests doing a full backup, but it's fine to do an incremental backup each sync - this means that only changes will be added to your backup and makes the whole process much quicker. IPAQ Backup ----------------- So under Programs is a program called IPAQ Backup. The default location is IPAQ FILE STORE which is an area in ROM and is not lost thru a power failure nor hard reset. You may also choos to backup to a SD card - a full backup will need roughly 20MB. So in this backup procedure, if you click on 'Browse' you can choose a SD card. A restore can then be performed from the IPAQ FILE STORE or SD card (depending on which location you chose) and so if you are away from your PC, this will be no problem. A restore this way , rather than thru Activesync is also much quicker, so if you have a choice go this route.

Please help! Cannot sync....

You need to install Activesync onto your PC. Activesync comes on the CD that came with your Ipaq , or the latest version can be downloaded from here... http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=2eb5bd80-d52c-45 60-ae11-da92f2b229fa&DisplayLang=en Then from your PC (not your IPAQ), open Activesync, click on File, Get Connected and do NOT cradle the IPAQ until it tells you to. The Activesync on the IPAQ is for wireless syncs, which cannot be done until youu establish a partnership with this first wired sync. You will need a wireless network to do a wireless sync.
