I'm trying to sync an apple ipod shuffle 4th generation to my windows xp pc. The famous USB device not recognized thing pops up. What do i need to do so i can use and sync my ipod.

Shutdown Windows.
Turn the computer off.
Unplug the AC power cord.
Reconnect the AC power cord.
Restart the PC.
This will eliminate many "intermittent" problems.

Now, connect some other USB device (mouse? keyboard? memory-stick?) into the USB port, to confirm that the USB port is working, at least for some USB device.

Now, connect the iPod to one of the USB ports.
If it is not recognized, connect the iPod to a different USB port.

This should work.

I need to find an installation program to switch my zen nano to vista from xp

try here first and if that doesn't work you should be able to load it using the drag and drop method
support.creative.com/kb/ShowArticle.aspx?sid=14186

heres the drag and drop/windows media player options
**Drag and Drop**
Connect your MP3 player to the computer. Some MP3 players connect directly to a USB port, while others connect to a USB port by way of a specific USB connector that comes with the MP3 player. Open the folder on the computer that contains the music files you want to transfer. This is usually the "My Music" folder, available from the "Start" menu, but it can be any folder where you save your music files. Scroll down to the song you want to transfer to the MP3 player. Right-click on the title. When the options are displayed, click on "Send To." Scroll down the "Send To" options and select your MP3 player. This can be listed as your MP3 player's name or as "Removable Drive." Click on this selection. Continue this process until you have transferred all songs that you want to your MP3 player.
--**Windows Media Player**--
If you have a large playlist to transfer, you may prefer to do it from your media player, such as Windows Media Player. Once your MP3 player is connected to the computer, open Windows Media Player. Click on the "Sync Music" tab. Drag songs that you want from your Windows Media Library over to the "Sync Music" column to create a playlist. Click the "Begin Sync" tab at the bottom once you have all of the songs on your playlist. This action will sync all of the songs to your MP3 player with one click. Disconnect your device once songs have been transferred by clicking on the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon in the bottom-right side of the desktop tray.

Having trouble synching with gpx ml638b...

If this problem occurs then your ML648B needs to be formatted.

1. Connect your ML648B to your computer with Windows XP or later.
2. By default your computer will recognize ML648B as GPX MTP Device. Press the POWER button from top of your ML648B, to change it to USB mode connection. You will also see USB on the screen of ML648B.
3. ML648B will now mount 2 drives, one as Tools (as CD-Drive) and second as Removable Disk (Drive) – under My Computer on your Windows Desktop.
4. Right click your mouse and then select the Format option. When the Format Removable Disk window appears select the Start button to start formatting your MP3 player.

Cell phone (LG KP199) to PC (Win XP) USB data transfer problem

When you connect your phone to the PC, it shows two options for connecting: Mass Storage and Cell phone. Select mass storage.

For connecting in Cell phone mode you need to have the PC Suite for this model which as on date is not available.

You can use any third party softwares like mobimb, Mobtime Cellphone manager etc. for connecting to PC.

Can't sync with wmp 11

On your player, go to Settings, USB Mode, and switch to MSC. After that, plug your player into your Windows Vista and now you can input music on your player manually. To do that, go into your player's storage from "Computer" and you will see a folder "Music". If you do not see it, it is because it is hidden. To unhidden it, simply press ALT key when you're still on the device storage. Tabs will pop up on the top. Click "Tools" and then click "Folder Options...". You will see three tabs. Click the "View" Tab. Look at advanced options and search for the sentence "Show hidden files and folders". You will be able to mark it so that you will be able to see the hidden folders/files in your player/laptop/computer. After you mark it, close the window and go back to your device storage. Now you will see transparent folders. If you see the music folder, you can just right click it, go to properties and look at "attributes" on the bottom and uncheck "Hidden". Now you can go back to tools and switch the hidden files/folders back to hidden so they don't show up hidden files on your laptop/computer (optional). Now you can manually switch/edit songs on your player without syncing. If you'd like to sync songs instead, you can format (reset) your player by plugging your player on your vista and go to "Computer" and right click your device when you see it. Click "Format..." and your device will reset itself. I recommend you manually editing your songs if you don't want your player to lose any files. If it still doesn't work, I think you need to get a new windows media player version if youd didn't get it yet.

Hot sync with vista

I have Vista Home Premium and I hotsync my peg-n760c using Palm Desktop. It came with version 4.1, but it was a disaster. The Cd is old and isn't compatible with Vista. So I downloaded an upgrade from Palm.com and I definitely don't use the Jukebox software that came with it either. Go to Palm.com and download PalmDesktop Win62.exe and install it. It should recognize your USB connection and hotsync immediately. Also, use Windows Media Player and change the files to mp3 by using a free program called Switch. Just google Switch and download the basic program. Then load the mp3 files onto your memory stick in Windows Explorer. Then use MSimport to load the memory stick files into your handheld. Good luck!

Windows XP, Palm m130, & Outlook 2003 - Sync problem

It sounds like the computer is noticing the USB activity (from when you hit the HotSync button) but for some reason it can't find the correct information/driver. I'd first try a soft reset (stick a paper clip or the end of your stylus may screw off to reveal a pin, in the hole at the back of your palm) Don't worry, it won't delete your info UNLESS YOU HOLD DOWN THE POWER BUTTON (SO DON'T). Once it's booted back up, try the hotsync again. If that doesn't work, you may need to find the usb driver for your palm and reinstall it. This could just be copying a file from disc, or reloading your Palm Software. Good luck
