I've had my Ipaq 4155 for about two years now, and have had my share of problems, most fixable. I am now having a problem with the Ipaq not recogmizing the SD storage card. The unit asks if I want to format the storage card on startup. When is choose Yes, it tells me that This storage card could not be formatted. Try reinserting the card, or using a different one. I've tried three different cards and none of them will work or format. I've tried two different types of soft reset as well as a few hard resets, with no luck. I've opened the unit up and inspected the receptacle for the card and it appears ok. Does anyone have another idea on how to get my card storage back?

Re:
Do you have somewhere else that you could format the card - camera, PC ???
Also you could try Pocket Mechanic which has a free 7 day trial...

I gave up and bought ($23) Conduit's Pocket Player which has no problem seeing and reading my MMC card which I sync to from Media Player on my PC through the PC's card reader. Job done!
Try taking out battery and plug in power. If it works, battery is faulty. If not, Try taking out your hard disk plug in power, if it works, hard disk is faulty. If not, Try taking out memory card, if there's a sound, memory card faulty. If no sound, it's your motherboard that is causing the error.
Note: If machine is under warranty no need to pay for the repairs.
It shouldn?t take more than 10 to 15 seconds for Active Sync to detect the iPAQ once it is inserted in the cradle and it turns on. First off you need to update to the latest version of Active Sync which is 4.5. Lots of synchronization issues have been fixed since 3.7 so here is the link to the download: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=9e641c34-6f7f-404d-a04b-dc09f8141141&DisplayLang=en
A couple of times over the past few years I?ve gotten a non recognition error as well. Each time I?ve been able to get away with removing and installing the latest version and my problem has been solved.
memory card isn't really memory it's more like a disk drive. it's not like when you add memory to a PC and the new memory is automatically used.
To make use of this card you need to transfer some of your larger files to the card....
You can move files from within the ipaq...
Click and hold on file.
Select Copy
Click and hold
Select Cut
Navigate with File Explorer to the SD card....
Open File Explorer
Select My device
Now select SD Card
You can create a new folder or select an existing folder
Click on Edit at bottom of screeen.
Select Paste.
You can also move files directly from PC to Storage card......
While IPAQ is connected, go to My Computer, then double-click on Mobile Device, then double-click on Pocket PC. Now you will see your Storage Card, and you can use this just like a folder on your PC. You can create folders within it. You can click and drag files to it or to any of it's folders.
