Asus a2800s

Hi George, sorry to hear/read this about your laptop.

One, you need to make sure your laptop's configuration matches the recommended environment under which Windows 7 OS was to be installed.

Check what system requirements for Windows 7 OS is and compare with your laptop.

Second, you may have to revert back to Win Xp for your laptop to re-stabilize.

Another option is to install Windows 7 Ultimate. This should operate fine on your laptop.

Post an update or feedback please.

How to make dual boot with window xp vista and windows 7

Dual booting Windows is the most challenging of the three options; however, making it work can be very rewarding. The process of creating a dual boot environment differs from Windows Vista to XP. Please follow the instructions according to which version of Windows you are currently using.
To run two operating systems on your computer, you will need to add a second partition. If you are not familiar with adding a partition, you can learn how in this section. Please note: each operating system will be able to see the other partition; thus, you can share files between them.

Dual Boot with window x and windows 7

You will need third party software to create a second partition for Windows 7; once you have created the partition, you can install Windows 7 on it.

Create a New Partition (Vista)

Click the Start button, right click Computer, and clickManage

In the left pane, click Disk Management

Now create a new partition by shrinking a previous volume so you can use the newly created space. Right click on the partition and clickShrink Volume.

Now right click the free space and click New Simple Volume…
Specify the volume size and click Next

Format the drive as NTFS, give it a label, and click Next

Power on your computer, insert the Windows 7 DVD, and restart your computer

Press the necessary key to initiate booting from your DVD (usually Esc or F12.)

Windows will now load the installation files.

Click Install now
Your computer will restart several times during the process as it configures itself and installs updates Be sure to leave the DVD in the drive and let Windows take care of itself.

Memory (RAM) – 1.25 GB required, 2 GB memory recommended.
Recommended 15 GB hard disk space per virtual Windows environment.
NB: Windows XP Mode is only available in Windows 7 Enterprise, Windows 7 Professional, and Windows 7 Ultimate.

How do I recover or repair bootini and bootsect for Windows XP Professional after uninstalling Windows 7 Ultimate?

It's good that you have the recovery cds. Do NOT reformat the hard drive. Restore with the cds so you'll have a clean install . You will need to have any software cds that did not come with the original pc in order for them to rebuild the registry entries. That is the easiest way because there won't be any left over files from Windows 7 after you restore to XP.

Moving mouse problems. Did driver update windows 7 ultimate

Thanks for posting your question here on fixya!
Re-installing the mouse is the usual fix for this, but if that fails to work, then try another mouse, or try the mouse with the problem on another computer to make sure it is working okay. If it does the same thing on a different computer, you may need a new mouse. that will save many headaches. If you can go to a second hand store or a habitat for humanity store you can get used ones for a buck or two. You can get them cheap at a dollar store or Big Lots, or even at a drug store. The new ones have a full warranty, the ones from second hand shops may only have a return policy of a week or 24 hours.

How do i install a software for windows xp on my windows 7

Most of the softwares for Microsoft Windows XP are compatible with latest Operating Systems (OS) of the same company. So you can try to install the software through the installer.
If the installation fails with error you should understand what is the reason.
If the reason is incompetibility with the OS you may consider to install Windows XP Mode on your Windows 7. You can download Windows XP Mode from the Microsoft site. This is the link to the page. You should choose the options from the drop-down menus according your system (32 bit or 64 bit).
Then you will have the oportunity to download Windows XP Mode and Virtual PC.
After installing these softwares and restarting the computer, you could enter Windows XP mode and install your XP based software. I hope this helps you. Good luck!

I am currently trying to install win7 ultimate on my gm5632e and i am unsure which drivers i need to pre install during instillation to make it work. if you could give me a link to some instuctions or to...

Hi,

Your computer Gateway GM5632e was designed for Windows XP and Vista. You may be successful installing Windows 7 Ultimate on this computer but you will have difficulties finding the right driver for the TV Tuner which was developed and manufactured by Gateway themselves. As always, drivers and sofrwares are limited from the manufacturers release. On the other hand, Windows Vista 64bit has having some issues with its updates. Windows Vista 32bit version can only work if your installer has service pack 1 with it. I suggest, have Windows XP install on your computer as it is stable comparable to the performance of Windows 7. It may not look like Window 7 but surely, Windows XP can still maximize your computer's capability.

I hope this works for you. Kindly reply/comment for further assistance. Good Luck!
