My maytag wide by side Refrigerator was working fine and all of a sudden everything melted. Called repair man and don't know what he/she did, however the frig worked again, but for only about 2 months and now has quit cooling again. The lights and control panel all light up, but the motor won't turn on. Where should I begin?

Check out the solenoids and power to the water solenoids for ice maker and door water.

open the freezer panel at the back of the freezer section and check the evaporator fan, it could have been burnt.

No this is not all.
You must replace the defective parts.
They may be a defrost heater.
Defrost thermostat.
Defrost ADC control.

It's determined by how much you are in and out of the unit,the board uses the light switch to count how many times you open and close the door if the switch isn't working properly it won't defrost often.Under normal usage you should get at least 2 defrosts in 24 hours.

sounds like a defrost problem maytag has problems with the defrost thermostat use a hair dryer to melt the ice on the coils and see if the defrost thermostat is swelled up on the edge

If the repairman didn't replace the defrost timer, that has now probably gone bad.
I would say, hang on the the fridge.

Sounds like a defrost problem or dirty coils under the machine. Check to see if there is any frost buildup in the back wall of the freezer. If so, it is not defrosting as it should.

If you don’t know what these are then unplug the machine and let the ice melt in the freezer overnight with the door open. Then try it the next day, if is cooling fine then you need to have a service person replace one of the above items.

Hi I have had this also happen,I need have a repair man come in to fix this and was told it will NOT happen again.Surprise!! It has happened again.But I was told that thee is a plug in the freezer side that get frozened up so this time I had to take everything out of the freezer,the bottom rack,then un-screw the back panel,in the bottom there is a small hole and this is were it is freezes up.Why?? I still do not know,but once again I have a call into the repair man again.But this time I did notice were the coil sits next to the freezer wall,it has melted,as if a fire had been there,So No I am not a happy camper myself.But good luck with yours.

make sure that everything is running in it - the compressor - any fans and that all airflows are ok.

If all is working then it is a refrigeration problem. low gas, blocked pipes or filter. This will have to be looked at by a refrigeration mechanic
