My charger for my Toshiba broke, yet I don't remember what the full name for my laptop is. I have the serial number though.

it sounds like one of three things:

1. Battery itself no longer functions
2. Laptop Charger has inadequate amperage
3. The motherboard is defective (most likely).

If you have another battery, or a friend with the same battery, you can try that first (and someone else's laptop charger).

If the problem is the motherboard, you can try to have it repaired but I don't trust many companies to do this kind of work. I outsource my motherboard jobs to a company called Laptop Rescue (http://www.laptoprescue.com/laptop-repair-2/). Coincidentally, they also sell laptop chargers in case that's the problem. Hopefully it's just a charger or battery issue and not a motherboard.

Don't do that if you are not good for repairing laptop. That will damage your laptop and be dangerous.

Have you tried using it in another device that reads/writes SD cards?
It's possible it is a counterfeit SD card. Some counterfeit cards don't work or are not the true capacity. If it it a name brand like SanDisk it will have a serial number. The counterfeit ones typically don't have serial numbers.

There are a couple of ways to do this. First, there should be a product and/or serial number on the charger itself. You could google these numbers. Also, sometimes, when you remove the battery there is more info about the laptop. Maybe the label where the serial number is unreadable has a readable produst number example (p/n). Lastly, often the replacements from the manufacture are expensive. You can get a universal charger at someplace like Best Buy for around $60.00.
One more possibility. When you turn on your computer, it may have some information about the computer on the screen before it boots to windows. You may be able to go into setup and se the model of the motherboard which could help in your search.

You can try calling Toshiba's laptop support line but they will require proof of ownership. If they can't get it removed then your only option is to get a new hard drive. Reason is because when a hard drive password is put on a hard drive its programmed into the circuitry in the hard drive so if you don't remember the password then you can't get past that screen.

Try deteach your battery and plug in power cord .. if notebook don't start it is something wrong with recharger.

I checked on the toshiba website. The model name is Portege and the model number is 3500. There are only 2 models of this laptop the other one has the model number 3505.
