Question about Pioneer VSX-27TX Receiver

Hi I have a Pioneer Elite VSX 27-TX receiver I've had it since 1999 never a problem. However last Sunday I turned it on and no audio, well initially I'd get a cyclic splash of static but now nothing. The display comes on and seems to function normally displaying each of the input selections either from front panel or remote. I suspect the amplifier section is out of the loop. I had been eyeballing the SC-37 for a while but it is too soon to fit it in the budget. Any good ideas other than take it to a repair shop? Thanks, John

Turn on your TV and see if it has found its way into the System Setup Menu by mistake.

You may have overloaded your amp. If you have a separate amp in line then this would not be the case but if you are using your receive as the amp then it could be. Look for a fuse on the unit. Usually a small black square marked with 15a.

Possibilities: your source setting is wrong, your tape monitor switch (if it has one) is on, your speaker selector position is wrong. Do any lights come on?

I have bad static from my Pioneer vsx 49 Elite
sorry no easy solution as it sounds like the output transistors blew out or the emmitter resistors. you will need a service manual and an multimeter to measure the resistors on or around the audio output transistors they are a low value resistor usually around 1 to 2 watts in size. Do not replace any bad , burnt or discolloered resistors around the audio output transistors as if tou do you might just cause more damage to the output transistorsor audio output stage including the audio driver stage of the amp!!!!!!

No sound from speakers after connecting to pioneer a/v vsx81
I had the same problem and resolved it last night. You'll also need to connect an audio cable (EVENTHOUGH YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE TO - to bad pioneer didn't fully implement the HDMI standard in this receiver) solution. I suggest using an Optical cable. This really annoyed me...see the manual on P.17 section #3.

NO SOUND FROM TV FOR DTS FORMATS I have a Pioneer DVD player Model dv 366 s which was purchased in year 2003. It is a plays 5.1 / DTS cd. I have connected it to my Denon amplifier Model 1604. and have hooked to my 29" Sony TV. I do have a HT system, comprising of 2 front, 2 rear, 1 centre and a subwoofer. When I play a DTS dvd disc, the sound comes only from the connceted speakers and not from the TV set. Is there any specific reasone for this.
