Yes, that is normal. It's exhausting the heat from the compressor out the window.

No you should not because it is counterproductive. You can always purchase a new exhaust hose at your local hardware store!!!

They only open Monday through Friday from 8:30 - 5:00.  Not much help when the unit goes out on a weekend.
Be very familiar with your product before calling.  I dealt with a few incompetent people before I got to someone helpful.

Hoses for proper connection should have been included with your purchase. Without the hoses the set-up can not be done satisfactory. One is for fresh air supply and the other is the hot air exit hose. These are normally vented out a window. Check with the dealer where you perchased the unit from. If from a private individual contact them.
