Hey my Gateway FPD1530 monitor is not working properly. I turn it on and it works. But as soon as I plug in to my computer it goes into sleep mode. Is this a power supply problem?

It goes into sleep mode if it does not get the video signal from your PC, or like you said, it may have power supply problem. We need to narrow down the problem first by trying this monitor with another PC or another monitor iwth this PC.
If it is the monitor problem, then you will need to do an in-depth troubleshooting, please read my guides first before DIY repair.

Gateway fpd 1530says

If you see a message box that says "Power Saving Mode" after pressing the power button, then it simply means that the monitor/display is not detecting the computer. Check the connection/cable between the display and the computer and make sure your computer is not in standby mode by moving your mouse.
From what you stated in your problem, you dont need a inverter or a bulb. If you have any image like the message box displayed then its working fine. It just isnt seeing any signal changes on the input and therefore goes into power saving mde. Try another cable or hook it up to a different computer to check the cable.

My gateway fpd1530 comes on then goes right back off any sugjestions on repair or is it worth it?

15? not likely.
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed HP monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

Delay in Monitor display once the system goes in sleep mode

Instead of sleep mode, tyr hibernate. It is generally faster except the whole computer shuts down. When you power back up, you're exactly where you were. Mine takes about 30 seconds.

Installing monitor problem

The Gateway FPD1530 is plug and play and should be automatically detected by the Operating System. In your display properties it will say plug and play monitor as Monitor type.

install the proper driver. a generic windows driver may not be suitable. The monitor should have come with a disc.

Gateway monitor fpd1530

There are multiple curcuits for this model.
Quick turn off of the backlight can be caused by deteriorated solder connectiond on Q6 & Q10 on the power supply/inverter board. Resolder and reassemble. (board mfgr: BI Electronics)
