Re: Missing COM port 1
It is not easy to give you a proper answer. The only thing that I can suggest you is to check TomTom support site. If you use some non Toshiba external device or software the best solution is to check support or FAQ page of device manufacturer.
- If you need clarification, ask it in the comment box above.
- Better answers use proper spelling and grammar.
- Provide details, support with references or personal experience.

First off, go to your GPS settings. Make the GPR Program Port: COM4. In the Hardware tab, make the GPS Hardware Port COM2 and the Baud Rate 4800. In Access, have the Manage GPS Automatically checked.
Download the VisualGPSce freeware program from this site install and run it. Make sure you're outside (sorry), you should see the to bars filling and after a while the red light in the bottom corner will turn green meaning you have a lock.
Hopefully now when you turn TomTom on, you will have your position shown. I always need to start VisualGPSce before kciking TomTom off.
i work as a truck driver on a small fleet of 7 vehicles in the midlands UK
3 of us have Tom Toms, the others have medion, navman or garmin.
ALL
the tom tom users have been experiencing GPS problems this week ( june
21 onwards ) whilst the rest of us have seen no change in GPS satelite
availability.
In addition, a friend who uses a TOM TOM One XL in another part of the UK has also had same problems.
Its a TOM TOM problem generally it seems, and NOT your particular piece of kit.
Any shop that specializes in installing car audio equipment should be able to hard wire the unit to the car's electrical system. Be sure you choose a reputable shop. But be aware - hard wiring may make it possible to see that you have a GPS unit (visible wiring, etc.) and they are very popular items to steal. If a thief were to see any sign you own one, they may break into the vehicle looking for the unit, even if you have taken the unit itself with you. Good luck.
