Battery I've just purchased an Olympus 3040Z. This is all new to me since I've owned a digital camera before. What batteries are best? The camera came with 2 one-use Lithium battery packs.

I have the Maha c204f charger and two sets of 1600mA Powerex Batteries. Over the past two months I have found that this is a perfect set up for my use of my Oly 2040. The batteries fully charge in under 3 hours, don't have a "memory effect", can be left in the charger without damage, and will take over 100 pictures with liberal use of flash, LCD, reviewing, etc. The whole set-up will cost you about $50 from

Even after putting a new fully charged battery camera shows battery empty

The reason you are still getting this error despite the fact that you've placed a new fully charged battery means that the battery is not compatible with the camera. The fact that it states this is because the battery isn't capable of handling the Olympus camera. I would suggest for you to buy a recommended battery pack by Olympus, or a rechargeable battery pack to avoid these errors.

Low battery indicator with new batteries.

AA alkaline batteries dont have the "power" that is require by the bigger better cameras to take and process pictures. NiMH is the best route.

Olympus fe 170 - battery door has broekn on edge and now won't shut so camera keeps saying low battery as cannot connect - can I buy a new door and if so where from?

You may want to call Olympus Customer Service and see if you are able to purchase this part from them. Their telephone number is 800-622-6372 option 2 and then option 3.

Broken track

I have the same problem. I contacted Olympus and it is 29.95 plus tax to repair. Right now I am getting around the problem by holding the cover and controlling it as I open or close to make sure the camera turns off and on.

I purchased a second reconditioned camera from Olympus on the auction site for $35.00 and it arrived yesterday.

It comes with everything except a remote. The battery is the newer L12B. Considering the cost of a replacement OEM battery and the camera looks new, it seemed to be the best work around to having the camera repaired.

I keep it because I have the underwater case for this model and to buy a case for another camera is big bucks..

Have battery problem

Hi: My son purchased a new digital Kodak for me since the olympus was no longer under warranty and the money I would have spent on tech assistance;and not knowing if the unit was repairable---just getting a new camera made more (dollar)sense.

How to recharge battery of Olympus FE-280 Digital Camera

When you purchased the camera, there should have been a charge in the box (you got a lithium-ion rechargable battery with the camera, no?). You put the battery in the charger and plug the charger in the wall.

Macro lens for the 3040Z

I have very good experience with the original Olympus Macro Conversion lens with the CLA1 adapter. No visible distortion and no loss of contrast. The only problem I can imagine is the lighting of it all. You need to come real close! The internal flash of the camera will not work properly because the "huge" macro lens will cast a shadow. Some kind of external light source will be needed and manual corrections in the white balance have to be made too. The 3040 is a fine camera and I use it at least twice a week, but it still lacks some of the features of my old OM4 camera! Think about the easy focusing (manual) and the use of a ring flash! Because that is what you need.

Lens Protection Size!!!

Get a CLA-1 lens tube. It screws into the camera body. The other end accepts 43mm accessories. Put on a 43-49mm step-up ring. Into that screw a 49mm UV filter. (The step-up ring is needed to separate the filter from the extended lens.) Leave the UV filter on at all times. Throw away the lens cap.
