Oki microline 280 feeds paper continiously after a file print, and won't stop till i pull power cable
Hi,
I have an oki microline 280 printer, each time i print an invoice from my database, it would not stop pulling the paper, and i have to pull the power cable. can somebody help coz this thing is new.
First, reinstall the driver and be sure it's the correct driver for this printer. If you drive a word document does it do the same? If not, chanses are the db application is constantly sending form feeds to the printer and the printer will do whatever it's told to do. Try a different printer setup in the db application.

Am afraid the Power Surge (when the power came back on) has damaged the unit and there is no "Reset" to these printers. You would need to replace the control board but as its a power surge there is a reasonable chance that the power supply will have been damaged/weakened and this will lead to a shortened life span of the printer. I would throw it away and replace with new. sorry, ( I am not a salesman either)
In my own experience, Okidata printers have a nasty habit of collecting a lot of paper dust. To start out, I would suggest a really good cleaning, with no paper in the machine, with a can of compressed air. If that does not solve your problem, you might have to replace your feed wheel assembly. Hope this helps!
Solved this problem by going into the bios and changing the port from ECP to EPP, and then uninstalling the ECP port in device manager and replacing it with a standard parallel port configuration, no problems since doing that.
Check printer setup where you define carrige return and line feed options. Alot of times you need to set printer to do an auto CR on reciept of LF or auto LF on reciept of CR. I run into this all the time.
Be sure when you install new paper that the paper out switch, usually in the paperpath somewhere, is being contacted by the new paper. Usually located on the left side of the paper platten.
line gear has a broken tooth on it, possibly. or you have a sliver of paper stuck under the plenum (large black roller that paper wraps around to feed). you can pop the cover off, by pulling the front edge up and away from the base (clips in only, no screws). remove the plenum with tabs that pull up on either side of it. pull out the plenum, and check for any paper under that area. good luck.
change in your computer driver setting
if you using windows xp
click to
start
settings
control panel
printer and fax
select your printer and right click
properties
in general menu
printing preferances
change here paper size
select letter 8.5" 11"
You need to set and store paper size, width etc in printers internal menu and on print driver on pc.
See Oki manual for printer settings its written on the front of the machine i think menu and set power on, then print to see settings then read manual...
