Common PixLab Problems and Solutions The software will not start up. • Is the software correctly installed? See the section on “installing and uninstalling software” and ensure that the software is installed correctly. The connection is not stable. Are you running software that frequently issues interrupts at the same time? • If you are running software such as Internet browsers and E-mail programs at the same time as the PixLab TWAIN, you should quit those programs before you start up PixLab TWAIN. If your PC is connected to a LAN or a special in-house network, communication faults may arise due to forced interrupts. Are any power-saving measure settings active? • On some PC models, communications can be interrupted when the PC’s power saving (power management or “Sleep” mode) measures cut in. Refer To the Owner’s Manual for your PC and switch off any power-saving functions before you start up PixLab TWAIN. Are you running utilities such as a battery monitor at the same time? • If your PC has a resident battery monitor program, delete the monitor program before you start up PixLab TWAIN. Try using a lower connection speed. • Select “ Communication Settings” in the “Option” menu and set the connection speed in the dialog box to “9600”. If the connection is stable at that speed, gradually increase the speed until you find the fastest speed at which the connection is stable. The PC and the camcorder will not communicate at all. 1 Is the camcorder and PC correctly connected? • Check that none of the cables are disconnected and that all the components are switched. Is the correct communications port selected? • Check “Serial and COM Port Settings” to make sure that they are correct. A Communication Error dialog box appears. (1) Without changing the settings, try to reconnect by clicking on the Retry. (2) If repeated attempts to connect are unsuccessful, click on the Settings and try changing the communications settings. • Change the “Serial Port” setting to another COM port and try connecting again. If you try all the COM ports without success, the serial connection may be assigned to a COM port. • Lower the “Connection Speed” setting and try again. Begin at “9600” and work upwards from there to find the fastest speed at which the connection is stable. images can not be captured.
