Whenever formatting my USB Data Traveler (Kingston 2GB DT 172GB ) (CN 051008 5V), my window always show me " Windows was unable to complete the format. " and whenever i put it in my USB Port, it always show "You Need To Format" What should i do ...

Click start control panel administrive tools computer management disk management right click on your drive select properties click tools you should see click check now click start two boxes automatically fix files and scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors place then a tick in both boxes then select check now start or you might tick one box then return after its finished the first repair then return and tick the second box you should not do anything while the chkdsk utility is in progress any input may damage this drive if you still want or need to format
click start click on my computer you should see your drive
right click then select format
another way is to control panel administrive tools computer management disk management right click on your drive select format

The thumb drive might have some fault.
Plug it in other OS mainly windows XP and Linux.
If still same problem persists after tried in Linux, problem is with pen drive.
You can ask for a replacement from the dealer as it has guarantee for 5years.

Click Run
Type CMD
Press Enter
Type CHKDSK q: /F
where 'q:' is the drive-letter assigned by Windows to your Kingston.
Press Enter.
When "check-disk" has completed, Windows will remote the "write-protect".

Format the Data Traveler:

Warning! All data will be lost.

1. Insert the DataTraveler into a USB port.

2. Right click the Start button via the Windows Start menu and slect Explore.

3. Locate and right click the Kingston removable drive.

4. Select Format from the pop-up menu.
Note: Always use standard FAT for drives 2GB and smaller. Always use FAT32 for drives 4GB and larger.

5. Click the Start button. A format Removable Disk Warning will come up. Choose OK if you want to format your drive. After the drive has been formated you will receive a Format Complete box. Click the OK button.

USB DATA TRAVELLER CANT BE FORMAT.

goto command prompt C:\Documents and settings \
then type cd..
then check name of the drive if it is G:
then type
C:\ > g:
g:\> format g then press enter
then it asks to compulsory format or not then press y
then the format is completed
