Howdy from the Midwest U.S. Just received an order from a reseller via web purchase. I ordered an S5100 and received the S5500. I know they're nearly identical cameras (intended for different world markets; S5500 in Britain and Europe, yes?) but to your knowledge, will I likely encounter any problems using/registering/repairing this S5500 in the U.S.? Of course they pushed an extended warranty on me (via what appears to be a photo outfit in New Jersey). I have only opened the package but have not even installed software or attempted to register the camera. They also offered "error-free" memory xD memory cards (but would not name the brand) and I ordered a 256MB card of that description. What I got is an Olympus brand xD card (in sealed retail packaging) that says "Panorama" on it--- supposed to handle the pan function on certain Oly cams, I guess. I think Oly has a good reputation for cards, but is "error-free" a fair appraisal? Is this card faster-better-stronger than any other brand? Back of package reads: 256MB xD-Picture Card M-XD256P. Also has a number below that: 200844. Any thoughts on this? Thanks! I've very much enjoyed this site and this forum!
I don't know what the difference would be between the 5100/5500, but make sure it has the NTSC feature (US standard video out), Not just PAL (as in some european countries), or it won't playback correctly on your TV. I got my 5100 from Sam's club, and bought the same 256 olympus card at that time, it works just fine,,, but no panorama on the Fugi. I don't know about the warranty, read the card for more info, check the address for repairs, is it American?,,, Ok, good luck
