I have a 34 year old Seth Thomas grandfather clock that works well. However the chimes seem to ring more slowly. The clock has never been lubticated. Should the chimes gears be lubricated and if so what kind of oil?

Please change the time of your wall clock back 1 hour and check if the other 3 chimes return. There should be knobs on the side of the clock to help you do this. If not on the side, then please check on the back. Since you've already checked the settings and ruled them out as the cause of the issue (as well as the batteries), you might need to perform a factory reset on the clock if the steps I mentioned above fail.
Hello I've Seth Thomas Grandfather 46978 clocks' user manual with me. But I don't know how to send it to you. It is in PDF format. The newly hoilsted Fixya site has no facilty to send the manuals to users I thinks. I can't see it nowhere in this iste. OK.
