You can use the MEMORY FORMAT functions to completely delete all images and options on the Memory Card, including protected images. * The format function restores the Memory Card to its initial state. * The Memory Card supplied with this camcorder has been formatted already. Attention If you execute the MEMORY FORMAT function, all images will be erased completely and erased images cannot be recovered. 1. Set the mode switch to MEMORY CARD. 2. Set the power switch to PLAYER mode. 3. Press the MENU button. 4. Turn the MENU DIAL to highlight MEMORY and press the ENTER button. The sub menu will appear. 5. Select FORMAT from the list and press the ENTER button. 6. "ALL FILES ARE DELETED! FORMAT REALLY?" appears on the screen. 7. Using the MENU DIAL, select the item. NO : To return to previous menu YES : To start formatting. 8. Press the ENTER button. If you selected the YES, COMPLETE! appears on the screen when the MEMORY CARD formatting is finished. 9. To exit the menu, push the MENU button.

I have Sony DSC-S40 camera with MS 1Gb, when i switch it on i have "access" then error message says" Memory stick error" and flashing "C:13:01" and I can't take photoes or...

Hello and Welcome to Fixya!

C:13:01 memory stick error message indicates a Self diagnostic message. In C:13:01 the issue may be with the Internal Memory or with the Memory Stick.

To solve it try the following solutions

Format error with the Internal Memory which can be corrected by formatting the Internal Memory.
If it is issue with memory stick then turning the power off and on again or taking out and inserting the "Memory Stick" several times may help in resolving the issue. Error may be because of Unformatted "Memory Stick" which can be resolved by formatting the Memory Stick in the Camera If it not remove by formatting in the camera then connect it to PC and tried to format it again but either FAT instead of FAT32 which is the regular format and then reinserted the memory stick and formatted it with the camara. Now it will be solved if it still exist then it means Memory Stick is broken or not compatible which can be resolved by inserting a new compatible Memory stick

I hope this solution helps you

Says error on formatting memory card.

Hi,
The camera may display a FORMAT ERROR if the inserted media is not formatted or if the media was formatted on a computer. This error may also display if the inserted media is not supported by the camera.
Try to remove and re-insert the Memory Stick media several times.
Make sure that the inserted Memory Stick media is compatible with the camera. DSCW310 Camera is compatible with the Memory Stick Pro Duo upto 32 GB.
You may also try formatting the Memory Stick media to resolve the issue. Format the Memory Stick media using the FORMAT option in the camera menu.
Formatting will erase all stored data, images, movies, etc., from the Memory Stick media. FORMAT option is available in the Memory Card Tool Menu of the Camera which is in the Settings Menu. Please back up the data by inserting the Memory Stick in the Computer Memory Card slot.
This may also happen if the terminals on the Memory Stick media are dirty. Remove the Memory Stick media from the camera and use a soft dry cloth or pencil eraser to clean the contacts. Make sure there are no residual particles on the Memory Stick media before re-inserting it into the camera.
The data on the Memory Stick media or the Memory Stick media itself is damaged. Try using a different Memory Stick media in the camera.
This should resolve the issue. If the error continues to display, the media may need to be replaced or the camera may require service.

My memory stick memory problem

I am not real familiar with this type card, do you know if you can format it like any other card? Sense you have already deleted everything on it( because formatting would delete) try putting you card back into your computer, to to my computer and find where it is located( which port) right click and see if it gives you an option to format, if so, try formatting it and it should bring it back to the state as if you never put anything on it. It is always good too format any memory stick ever so often.
Hope this helps.
