Everytime I lock my computer, shut the lid or leave it untill it goes black, it will not come back on when I touch the mouse pad. However when I got this laptop it worked and when I opened the lid and wiggled the mouse it came back on. So at the moment the light will be on but the screen black so I end up turning it off, using the button, and then turning it back on straight away, therefore any unsved work on my laptop when it locks is lost. Please help, thankyou

Well by default Closing the Lid will cause computer to go to Sleep mode and you can't wake it up using mouse. However you need to press power button to wake it up.
But as you said it was working the way you explained then seems like Power settings on your computer are changed
To check the settings Got0 -Control panel and click on power Options Goto - Advanced and find the Lid open/close actions You can change it there If you don't want your computer to goto sleep mode with the lid close, you can simply disable it.
Hope this worrks

Hi

Thanks for posting.

First i want to know the model of your laptop and make so i can help you well.

But anyways try the following to resolve it.
1. Open power options from the control panels
2. choose the correct options.
3. make the selection for the option where the system asks what to do when the lid is closed or when the power button is pressed etc.,

Perhaps your mouse is not plugged in to the computer. If your mouse is a usb mouse it will have an end of it that looks like this:

It probably isn't blue on the inside though. It's probably silver or black
If your mouse is a ps2 mouse then it will look like this:

If the mouse is a ps2 mouse then when you plug it back in you will need to log off and then log back on to your computer for it to work. To log off you can press the windows key that looks like this:

and then use the tab button to navigate to the log off button and hit enter. Then hit tab until you can select yes and hit enter.

If it is a usb mouse then you can just plug it back in and it will work.

When my new hp mouse pad locks, how do i unlock it without restarting the computer?

There should be a button above the pad or work your way using the keybord to mouse properties and go to the page that has the name of your track pad and select enable.

Hello my little brother was playin like he was on the piano and the touch pad locked up i dont know how to unlock the touch pad

Re-boot the computer. If you can't use the mouse to shut down, hold the power button down until the computer shuts off - then re-apply power.

Gateway NV52 on AMD-64, running vista home premium. The

Not sure about the blue, but it sounds like the black screen problem others are having all over then net. Here was my two cents on it so far....

There is a very good chance if you are using a external mouse instead of the touch pad, that is what is causing it. Problem is, I am still looking into why and do not know of a fix yet.

I have the very same laptop and mine worked just fine with a external mouse up until I formated it. Now just like the many other owners, my mouse freezes and and then seconds later the screen goes black. It doesn't however when the external mouse in not pluged in.

I would have to assume this is due to something not being installed right during the windows installation. As I said, mine worked fine until the format. Until I find out what is causing this error to happen, my best advise is not to use a mouse, just use the touch pad.

It's kind of a pain lol, I had gotten so use to the mouse. I kept reaching for it even after I unplugged it. I had to take it off my desk so I would use the touch pad lol.

Gateway nv52 notebook screen goes black but is still on, 2 days

I've had the same problem. The problem occurs because the wifi network driver is conflicting with vista. Just update to Atheros Network Driver V7.7.0.356 and it should fix the problem. You can find the download on the gateway support page.

Lenovo n500 laptop ... mouse pad not working

The mouse pad maybe faulty or the ribbon cable from the mouse pad to the motherboard may not be properly connected. Reseat this cable.
You can connect an USB optical mouse to the laptop. I prefer you use a USB mouse all the time over the mouse pad.
