My monitor goes blank after being on for around 10 seconds. When I reboot the computer the monitor will turn on and off and on and off again. When the computer is booted completely, the monitor goes blank. I hooked up an old crt monitor which I am using now, and this monitor stays on.

Hi

It is a little tricky problem. But anyways this is due to small capacitor leak you have to replace it to make it work well. You can identify it by seeing the top of it. See the below pix for more info.

I have a Samsung SuncMaster 940BW 19'' LCD Monitor. It's a geat Monitor in my humble opinion in everything, except that since i got it i have one problem with it, and it wasnt possible for me...

This is a common problem with monitors when changing resolution. What probably happened is you may have tried to change the resolution, or an application changed the resolution, to an incompatible resolution.

For example, if you have a tiny little screen it can't display that huge resolution that a 32 inch monitor has. So, your monitor is stuck in that wrong resolution.

To fix this problem, you need to boot into Safe Mode. Restart your computer, and as it is booting up tap F8 a bunch of times, and then select Boot into Safe Mode.

When it boots up, right click on the desktop, click Properties (Windows XP) or Screen Resolution (Windows 7). When the window pops up, click Settings (if on Windows XP, if on Windows 7 skip to next step). From this window, change the resolution back to the basic 800 x 600 screen resolution.

Now, reboot your computer normally. You should be able to see the desktop. Now, you can do the same thing that you did in safe mode and turn up your resolution. BUT, when you change it, if the screen goes BLANK again, DO NOT press anything. After 15 seconds it should go back, and you can try a lower resolution.

Hope this helps! Thanks for using FixYa.

I have an Acer AL1912 that when you plug in the ac, the green power light will blink for about a minute and a half then go solid. The backlight will come on and you can see a faint ghost of vertical lines...

If it is still in warranty call the manufacturer.
if not give more info [email protected]. May be somthing simple like a cable
shutdown computer unplug then disconnect the video cable on the computer from the monitor, plug monitor back in and turn it on, there should be a display that says no video source within a few seconds, if unit is working properly. shutdown and connect video again and then reboot computer. sometimes it just takes a compleat power disconect to reset things,

Screen comes up for about 10 seconds, then goes blank

Hello Robert,

You have a monitor with a common problem. After a few years some LCD monitors will blow a power supply. The problem is caused by parts called capacitors overheating in the confined space of he monitor. If you are good at electronics repair/soldering you can usually fix he problem. Check out a few pictures on my web site www.ccl-la.com/badcaps.htm You can take the back cover off your monitor and look for the bad parts, replace any that look like the pictues and your monitor should work fine. The capacitors do need to be installed with the correct + and - connections, note the stripe on the old one and insert the new one the same way. If you don't want to try the repair yourself we offer a repair service for $35 plus shipping. I hope this helps, if so please rate my solution.

Screen goes blank after 2 seconds

Do you have the video set to a range that this display cannot handle? Try rebooting into Safe Mode and set the resolution down to 800x600 or 1024x768 and see if it that will get you back. If so, then look up the specs of the display and set it no higher than it's max.

If it physicaly powers OFF, then you probably have a power issue.

Acer AL1711 17" LCD Monitor goes blank without warning

The need to reboot your computer to get your monitor working places the blame totally in the computer. You have a virus, or the computer is overheating and shutting down for thermal reasons.

What is wrong with my AL1711

This is possibly an inverter. When the monitor goes out, examine the LCD to see if you can see a faint image of the video being displayed. IF so, replace inverter. If not, possibly a bad LCD or video circuitry.
