Recording Still images To The Memory Stick
M.REC mode (Memory RECORD mode)
1. Set the mode switch to MEMORY CARD.
2. Set the power switch to CAMERA.
3. Press the PHOTO button.
The still image is recorded to the Memory Card.
To View photos on the Memory Card
M.PLAY mode (Memory PLAYBACK mode)
1. Set the mode switch to MEMORY CARD.
2. Set the power switch to PLAYER.
The last recorded image appears. If there are no recorded images on the Memory Card, NO STORED PHOTO! or NO STORED MPEG4! will display on the screen.
3. Using the (FWD) and (REV) buttons, search for the desired still image.
* To view the next image : press the (FWD) button.
* To view the previous image : press the (REV) button.
* Pressing (FWD) when you are on the last image will take you to the first image and pressing (REV) when you are on the first image will take you to the last image.
* Keep pressing (FWD) or (REV) to search for an image quickly.

As a last resort you could copy the full card to a computer and then delete the pictures on the card and use that again.

when trying to view a still image on the camera if the image was
rotated, modified and overwritten using editing software on a computer.
To play images you have taken on the camera, it is recommended that you
do not make any changes to the original image files. Not able to record or play : This error may occur in any of the following circumstances: -The Memory Stick® media is not inserted properly. -The Memory Stick media is not supported for use with the camera. -The Memory Stick media may be faulty.
To delete the images from the Camera, press the Play button on the Camera to view the images. Display the images which you want to delete and press the DELETE button (Recycle Bin icon) located below the lower left of the Control buttons.
To delete multiple images, slide the index lever and select with the control buttons.
While the index screen is displayed, press the Delete button and select the images with the control buttons and select Enter button. Now, select the images which you want to delete and press the Enter button to display the Delete icon on the images. Press the Delete button again to delete all the images.
You can also delete all the images in the folder by selecting All in this Folder to delete the images.
To delete all the images in the Memory Stick you can select the Format option from the Internal Memory Tool or the Memory Stick Tool Menu to Format the Internal Memory or the Memory Stick.
The Read Error message displayed on the Camera when accessing the images which was not recorded correctly. This may also happen when the Memory Stick is corrupted to record or read the files. Please check if the message is displaying when accessing all the images. If it happens with all the images, then it may be an issue with the Camera or the Memory Stick.
To check if the issue is with the Memory Stick, try using a different Memory Stick and check if the message displays.This may also happen when an attempt was made to play back the image or the movie that was not recorded on this camera.
Try to wipe the contact area on the Memory Card with a soft, dry cloth. It may be necessary to format the Memory Card (Format option is available in the Setup 2 Menu of the Camera). If the message still appears, service may be required.
Even if the Memory Stick Duo is inserted in the Camera, the images will not be saved in the Memory Stick Duo until the capacity of the Internal Memory is full. To save the images in the Internal Memory to the Memory Stick Duo, select the EXPORT option from the Viewing Menu of the Camera. Touch the MENU icon when viewing images to select the IMPORT option.
There are two option in the Viewing Menu of the Camera (Export and Import). Export option is to save from Internal Memory to Memory Stick and Import is for saving from Memory Stick to the Internal Memory.
This Camera is having 4GB of Internal Memory, hence the images captured will get saved in the Internal Memory first and then to Memory Stick once the Internal Memory is full.
This is a feature and not a defect of the CX-12 that reminds the user that the memory stick inserted might not be able to record the data from the camera effectively. HD video requires a memory stick with a relatively fast data read/write speed, and the CX-12 recommends not using any other stick that is not Mark 2.
Fortunately, though, as you have found out, it does not affect the camera's ability to record in non-Mark 2 sticks.
