Kitchen faucet Remove

How do I remove my old faucet?

  • ken l Nov 30, 2008

I have a Grohe Europlus II kitchen faucet, model 33939. There's a leak in the water supply that I've isolated as originating from the handle. I imagine this is a defect that I can't fix. I'm trying to figure out how to remove the unit rom the sink. On the underside, I see a metal horseshoe nut that's attached to the pipe threads. There's also a plastic cover that has a triangular shape that is putting pressue on the underside of the sink. I'm guessing I need to use a screwdriver and hammer to tap the horseshoe shaped nut loose?

Start by turning off the water supply, either by shutting off the main water supply to your house (probably located close to your water meter), or by closing the shutoff valves on the water supply lines to your faucet. Then, open the tap to allow the water to drain out of the lines and remove any water pressure. Next, use your adjustable wrench and disconnect the hot and cold water supply lines running to the faucet. If you're going to replace the lines, disconnect them at the shutoff valve, but if you're going to reuse the existing lines, do your disconnects at the base of the faucet itself. ow it's time to actually remove that old faucet. Faucets are attached in one of two ways. Bottom mounted faucets are removed from the top of the sink. To remove a bottom mount faucet, you need to take off the faucet handles and escutcheon to get to the nuts holding the faucet. Once the nuts are exposed, use your wrench to take them off. Top mounted faucets, unfortunately, are held in place by nuts located on the underside of the sink. You'll need to get under the sink to remove them, and space may be at a premium. If you're lucky, you'll be able to use your slip joint or locking pliers to loosen the nuts. However, if pipes are in the way, you'll need to use a basin wrench (a wrench specially designed to work in tight spaces where you don't have room to use an ordinary wrench or pliers). Once you've removed the nuts holding the faucet, just lift it up off the sink. If there is some caulking holding the base to the sink, slide the blade of a utility knife carefully around the faucet base to cut it loose. You'll need to remove any old caulking or "grunge" that may have built up around the old faucet. You can get silicon remover at your home store, and a mixture of vinegar and water or an orange cleaner will remove the grunge.

SOURCE: kitchen spout leaks

Hi buffy9,

I'm Harvet the Master Plumber.

Your question is: You have an American Standard two faucet in my kitchen and the base of the spout leaks at the base. How do you remove it and replace the washers?

Are we talking about an American Standard two HANDLE faucet or one of the single handle models?

Thank you,
Harvey your Master Plumber

SOURCE: How do I remove the aerator on a moen pull out

It should just unscrew. You might need some needle nose pliers as the aerator may be slightly recessed.

How do remove Moen kitchen faucet?

To Remove Moen Kitchen Faucet.
Regardless of the type of faucet being installed, there are a few basics steps everyone will follow.
First, shut off the water supply to the old faucet using valves typically located under the sink. Then remove those supply lines and the old faucet.
Before installing the new faucet, check the area around the sink and clean up any gunk or old caulk that you couldn't see before, Simons says.

Removing an old kitchen faucet

Some faucets are secured by large nuts threaded onto water supply inlets. There will be no brackets in this case. FYI all securing should be from below. Good luck

Do I have to remove the entire Delta kitchen faucet in order to replace the pullout faucet hose? If not, can you give me step by step instructions on how to replace it? Thanks.

Should be able to turn water supply off to faucet and trace the line connecting the pull-out faucet. Remove weight in center on hose line this weight helps retract the faucet head in with the line. Remove it and disconnect the line connection and remove the old one.

I hope this will help please go to this web site for a downloadable parts link. If it is leaking from the spout replace the seats and springs to correct the problem. Turn water off and remove handle with a 1/8" allen wrench and remove retaining collar to access the ball assembly to remove the seats and springs.

The parts page on this link will give you a break down and hope this will help.

Im tryin to remove the ball stem #212 off my faucet?

Remove handle and on top it has a cap that has to be removed to access the ball it will require maybe a strap wrench or chanel locks with something on teeth to keep it from damaging top cap.

Remove cap and it will give you access to ball turn .

Kitchen faucet Remove

All faucets have a hot and cold line input. The single handle units have a mixing valve within the handle. Aside from removing the water lines there is usually some type of connecting bolts for the base plate as well that will need to be removed prior to removing the faucet. Do not forget to turn the shut off valves off at the wall before you remove the water lines.

Good Luck
