Question about Sony FD Trinitr WEGA KD-32XS945 TV

1 Answer

My Sony WEGA HDTV Model KD-32XS945 picture is jumpy. The horizontal hold won't hold. It's worse on the lower frequency channels, HD channel show occassional jitters. Is this the digitial tuner failing? If so, any idea if the part is available and is it a complicated fix for a DIY? I am fairly good with a soldering iron.

I found a service manual with schematics. It looks like the Horizontal Drive Transformer is T5002 (Part # 1-435-636-21) and capacitor closest to it is C5053 (Part# 1-106-220-00 MYLAR 0.1?F 10% 100V). I wish I could paste a picture. Does it sound like this is the filter capacitor?

I finally got around to replacing the capacitor just before the horizontal drive transformer. I thought it worked, the picture was slightly fuzzy but it did not jump. The following week, I put it in focus, and the jumping is back. Its a little different now. When I change channels it takes 3 to 10 seconds of jumping before it 'locks in'. Then its fine. It also loses the horizontal hold when I display the program info banner at the bottom of the screen. When I do a full screen menu, the hold is good again.

A leaky capacitor from the sync seperator may have caused this defect..if you can interpret its schematic..if you have, the cap is located before it enters to the drive transistor

I don't have a schematic. Do you know where I can locate one?

    Thanks!

horizontal pulse signal is coming from what they call the jungle ic before it enters the horizontal drive transformer then to the horizontal output transistor then finally to the flyback trasformer.so the filter that we are looking for is after the jungle ic before the drive transformer..or visually you can identify the filter capacitor..

My Sony Wega 60" -

Lower tv resolutions modes like 480 or 720 i or p no problems?Yes,this tv just require some adjustments inside the tv micro nobes buttons on the tv main Tuner signal board. If this problems happen in the lower resolutions modes too.Tuner signal board itself it begin to causing a problems and slowly dying.I would hire a qualify and bounded tv tech. to do the check to the tv and for the adjustment because there are many micro nobes buttons on that board or if requirement of a replacement of the board itself, he have better sources getting these boards itself.

I have a Sony Grand Wega 60 inch rear projection LCD model KF-60WE610 manufactured/purchased around 2004. I am having a problem where it turns on and runs fine for about and hour but then problems...

I have not repaired this model of TV. I have seen Toshibas and Hitachis that did the same. In these cases it was the Digital board that is next to the tuners that were faulty. There are surface mount capacitors that go weak and then bad. You may be able to repair this. Seek the website TVRepairKits.com. Have your model of TV handy, along with the symptoms. Hope this will clue you into a fix. Thanks for asking and show all hands of support!

Are they HD compatible? We recently upgraded our cable on our 32 inch Sony Trinitron Wega tv (bought it in 2004) and got the dvr/HD package but get no HD channels...help??

These units are not HD sets. So if you want HD sorry to say you will need a different TV. If you can live without the HD these TVs have a great picture thats as close to HD as a regular set gets.

Sony WEGA KD-32DX50 U Tuning problem

This is answered on the sony support pages see
http://www.sony.co.uk/section/contact
and then enter 're-tune digital channels' in the search by keyword box for the explanation.
It basically needs a software upgrade which will be downloaded free if you've still got a freeview channel - but if you've lost them all you'll need help - anyway it's all explained by sony.
