This will depend on how old the Tv and DVD player are. Most modern equipment now simply uses an HDMI cable. A simple plug it in at both ends, turn the Tv to the correct 'Input' screen and job done.
Older setups might use a Scart cable or even the older RGB/Component cables. Most Tv manufacturers now don't use these connectors as they are considered 'Old' and poor quality technology.
the TV has component input so if you get an AV lead will come with 1 white leade and 1 yellow lead at each end, plug them diectly into TV and then at other end of cable get an AV to scart adaptor for your DVD had to same for my daughters TV and dvd as had no scart
what is the model of the tv and dvd player please. have you checked on other scart socket on tv. could you test the dvd player on another tv see if it is doing the same to that one.
If the TV has the red, white and yellow sockets on it you can use an adapter. It's a scart plug on one end (for the DVD player) and 3 little round sockets on the other, usually red, white and yellow, sometimes red, black and yellow, like this:Amazon. Then you need an audio/video lead with red, white and yellow plugs on both ends like this:Amazon
on the back of your dvd player and tv - you should have what's called scart sockets. Most dvd players come with a scart lead - you just have to plug one end of the lead into the back of your dvd player labelled tv, then the other end into your tv.
There are usually two Scart multi pin sockets on the back of TVs (at least) They'll be marked AV IN/OUT or AV IN or something similar. It will probably work best in AV IN

Hi I'm not 100% sure what dynex model you have however i am aware that not all models have the red/yellow and white composite plugs. So you best bet is to use an hdmi cable it will give you best picture and can be brought of ebay from £3.
If the tv as a scart plug connector, you can get a red/yellow/white adepter to Covent it to scart like the images below:
Hello; There are many laws and rules controlling what you can watch on all DVD players, built into a TV or separate player. If you go buy an MGM or other dvd of some movie at Walmart , Best Buy ETC it should play in your DVD player, But if You or somebody " Burned a DVD" , It Likely won't play. If The DVD is an original store copy and still won't play, the DVD chassis must be replaced. BIG BUCKS. Just buy a Cheap DVD player and plug into the jacks on the back of the TV and save a TON of money. John
