Distorted sound issue can be occurred due to loose connection, cable or problem with source. Check if Distorted sound issue is related to any audio/video files or any particular TV channel. If it is related to any audio/video files or channels then check on any different channels or play different audio/video file which have good quality audio. This may be he characteristic of mixing of the delayed when high distortion is present...
I would go to music store and compare... I tend to think this is the nature of the beast.
If you consider what the waveforms look like with distortion and then add them delayed... they limit out and when added there is a significant difference when adding or mixing waves that are delayed when squared compared to nice sine waves.
I would use the audio output of your netbook to supply signal to any external audio system so you can determine is it is an internal circuit problem or simply a failed speaker.
If the distortion is present in the sound output from the external system, then a circuit in the netbook has failed.
If it isn't audible in the external system, then a junky speaker has failed in the netbook.
What's the model number? Describe the distortion in some detail. Is it intermittent? Does it seem to affect anything else, like audio, when it's present?

Hello have you disabled all the built on sound cards on your computers? This is a known problem. If you are going to use a great product like M-audio disable any onboard audio card. Then try to use the 410 system. If you still have the problem try changing the latency to 4-5
