Thank you for posting your question on fixya. I will be happy to help you with this problem.
Sounds like you need to adjust the airflow so that it is getting enough air to burn.
Also Read your manual....it will explain why and what happens when not done.Your machine ( which I have ) requires a 11" opening of fresh air in a garage. I use a fan sideways behind the machine and that seems to work without having to open the door, also helps circulate the heat at the ceiling.
You can Check for water in fuel. Your suction fuel tube sits right on the bottom of your tank. This is where all of the water will be. The water is being picked up instead of fuel. I have repaired many kerosene heaters in the past, This is a common problem due to the tank sweating in the hotter months. If so drain, clean tank, replace fuel filter if needed. Refuel and test again.
Hope it helped..
The heater will not stay on if it detects an off-color flame caused by air leaks, wrong fuels or other issues. The unit has a photo-cell that detects the flame color. Color is determined by air/fuel mix, fuel type and flame stability. Any red or other colors is not good. Any irregular flame is not good (irregular fuel flow or other issues).
Do not use Napha, paint thinner, gasoline or any other fuels except kerosene.
Good luck.

I have a reddy heater 170t that will not start. When I push the start button it buzzzes three times and nothing else happens. I don't get any flame. I replaced the ignitor switch but get the same results.
