Samsung D53 and Windows Vista.

Hi there!

I recently got a new computer and suprise suprise Im having trouble with windows vista! I have a Samsung Digimax D53 and I couldnt download the driver from the cd which Ive noticed is a common problem, Also when I try to connect my camera via the usb cord vista comes up with an error message saying that "USB device no recognized' Now here comes the frustration because last week I found a solution on here for a way to by pass the driver and view my pics via autoplay and windows picture viewer and I believe I found the solution on here but I cant find that thread again and I was silly and didnt write down what I did sooooo......I am back to square one where I sit here cursing windows vista and the makers at microsoft because I cant do something as simple as downloading my pictures to my computer.

I would appreciate any help on the subject. I would like to avoid buying a card reader if I can its just another thing to plug into my computer. but if thats the only way to do it then so be it.

but thanks so much for your time and for any suggestions

Cheers, Mel

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Windows Photo Gallery or Picasa.

Mind did the same thing. Try taking out the memory card. If it works after that, you'll have to buy a new memory card.

SOURCE: Can't install software for D53 on my new Vista PC

If it is older software, it is probably not made to run on Vista Operating Systems. I would check the market for something Vista compatible. Samsung might even have updated software on their website for purchase. But you might want to do some bargain hunting around the net first.
Or you could always just connect the camera to the computer and copy the pictures into the "My pictures" folder on your computer. And with Vista's "Windows Image Viewer" (or something of that nature) you can do basic things to the photos, like adjust brightness, contrast, or saturation. You could also crop the photos, and more. The Vista provided image viewer is probably equal to what you could do to photos in the software.

I recently updated to windows 7 from vista. im having loads of problems with my intel chipset with integrated graphics...i got the windows 7 drivers for it already and im still having problems idk if its...

You'll need to access the computer manufacturer's support site to find the appropriate 64-bit driver for this chipset. If you post the make/model of computer I can probably assist with that.

Hope that's helpful.

Hey there! i have the Digimax d53 and I recently purchased a new laptop and would like to download the software to it but it says it only supports up to Windows xp and mine is Vista. What can i do?

Either you'll have to break out the old XP computer, or you can download your pictures to Vista, using a card reader. There is a snowballs chance that the software may work with Vista, but it usually doesn't, since it was developed back in 06 or thereabouts. But a card reader will download the pics, and then you can use a free, 3rd party software (like Irfanview) on them for effects, or retouching. Hope this helps...

Samsung Q35 notebook with Windows 7 , no sound and sony card read

Find the manufacturer of those devices and go to the manufacturer website and download the windows 7 drivers. There probabbly aren't any.
Windows 7 will use vista driver if upgrading, but not with fresh installs.
or
purchase driver magician and run the update feature.

No disk

If your new computer's operating system is Windows Vista, the driver for the Samsung Digimax D53 is incompatible. If you have W98, then you should just be able to plug and play your camera to your computer or download the driver from www.samsungcamera.com

NEED SOFTWARE FOR VISTA

You can remove files from the camera by simply browsing the folders on the camera through Windows Explorer and drag / drop / delete them as you will.

Start > Computer > Digimax D53 > DCIM > 103SSCAM (this folder will contain the videos and pictures)

If the audio on your videos does not work, it is not because of Vista, it is because you are missing a codec. To solve this, download and install "Vista Codec Pack" from http://www.free-codecs.com/download/vista_codec_package.htm

Software

driver of your D53 is not compatible with PC's running Vista. camera has plug and play connection with PC and when transferring files, camera could be connected to PC without downloading driver. It will come up as DCIM or 100SSCAM folder. If you tried to connect your camera to PC but it is still not recognized, try to download remote service for camera in samsungcamerausa.com under support and remote service.
