Question about Panasonic AG-185 Camcorder

Capture digital video using Panasonic PV-GS12 and USB

I would like to capture the video I have taken on my Panasonic PV-GS12 and save it to my PC for editing. The only output ports I can find on the camera itself are a USB port and one labeled "DV". I bought a USB cable that allows me to connect my camcorder to the computer (it is recognized by windows) yet I cannot get Adobe Premiere Pro or Windows Movie Maker to recognize the connection when I attempt to capture video. I do not have a DV card installed on my computer or a firewire card (although I don't know if this camera supports firewire). As you can see, I'm pretty new to this process. I'm basically trying take some film for vacations, parties, etc. and turn them into DVDs. Is there some hardware I need to buy or a step that I am missing in the capture process? I would prefer to not pay for any additional hardware if possible. Any information would help! Thanks.

Here's what I learned. 1. Connect with FIREWIRE. It's all of under 10 bucks if you shop around. 2. Use WINDV to capture if you need to. Hint: Free. 3. Use better software than what comes with the camera.

I have a panasonic pv-gs180 camcorder. How do I connect it to my hp pavilion slimline pc which has only usb ports?

Mini DV cameras are designed to use a firewire connection and not USB to capture from the tape.
There are some USB devices that can convert and capture using analogue outputs from the camera. These devices usually transcode the DV codec to a compressed format that is designed for playback rather than frame by frame editing.
If you choose to use a USB capture device, read the fine print carefully to determine if it's suitable for your specific requirements.

Hi, I have a panasonic pv-gs80 video cam and I would like to save my movies on my e-machine p c. What cables and software do I need? thanks Tim E-Mail [email protected]

If you don't want to spend a lot of money you could use Corel VideoStudio. As for cables, your camera should have come with a USB 2.0 cable that would connect to the camera and then to the USB port on the PC. Or, if your pc has a firewire port, you could buy that cable to connect for a faster video transfere and capture. Hope this helps.

Firewire

Okay then let's start with that. Download the drivers from:

http://www2.panasonic.com/consumer-electronics/support/Cameras-Camcorders/Camcorders/MiniDV-Camcorders/Drivers-Downloads/model.PV-GS39.D#ts

Install the drivers and you should be good to go! Let me know if you're having any problems after that.

Because the RCA in a PC. is for capture AUDIO and VIDEO.
Of any source.
But you have to be sure they are INPUT.
And the respective program to capture video with. RCA inputs in your PC.

I have on my PC.. Video capture program with a security camera System. That work in the same way.

Just with a different program.

OK I hope this help..

Palmcorder

You shouldn't. The PV-DV203 means it is one of Panasonic's MiniDV, digital cancorders. You should only need the cable(s) supplied with the camera, and either a FireWire or USB port available on your computer. Windows Movie Maker should be able to download the video and allow you to edit it.
