It is possible that you have connected an adapter with a higer voltage or one with a wrong Polarity. In both the cases it is possible that the front end of the player has damaged components.
In some cases there is a possibility of the ZENER which is the protection in the input circuit that could have burned and saved the cicuit as it is normally connected to protect in parallel.
SO you need to check this out , also the short can burn up a fusible resistor or fuse and so could save the circuit. Use a mulimeter to check this section of the circuit. If not there will be serious damage on the main board.

How do I fix portable speaker will not power up

You will have to try to find the damaged component(s), which means disassembling the speaker. Once you find what parts need to be replaced, you can order them from an electronics supplier such as Digi Key or Mouser. Replace the components and continue from there, as additional troubleshooting may be required.

My wii adapter was plugged into the wrong outlet and the the box that sends current to the wii made a pop sound and smells like its burning. It is not turning on the wii anymore. Does this affect my wii or...

NOrmally the Adapter are protected and dos not allows for the current to pass to the Wii unless the current was too high. Please try to find an adapter from a friend and see if your Wii powers up, the apdater would be hard to fix since you have to identify the burned component and once you identify it you have to remove it from the PCB and and then obtain the right component and installed back and tested. I would recommend you to get a new adapter, if the one you borrowed works, even an aftermarket adaptes is better than fixing your current adapter.

If this do not fix your issue than the motherboard of the Wii is at fault and the cost to fix it will vary. if you still have it under warranty or you bought and extended warranty go ahead and use it!

When i switch on my Bernina Artista 180 it blows

Almost-certainly due to the main switching transistor having blown, however this is not necessarily an easy fix ... very often when this happens it takes a number of other components with it ... I had one last week where no less than 10 other components had got fried (and I do mean fried beyond recognition, due to somebody having put a bigger fuse in - doh! - dont ever do this ... it's dangerous!). Best thing to do if you dont really know what you're doing is to get a complete exchange 'L'-print.

I used the wrong adapter by mistake now my laptop wont come on, i'm sure i fried something , the only thing it does, is the power lightly faintly clicks very rapid. Nothing else.

Yes you are correct. Due to wrong adaptor the power supply known as SMPS gets fried and causes mother-board damage too. So you need to repair your laptop's mother-board components and power supply too.

If this solution was helpful to you then please rate 100% (or FIXYA) for this solution, otherwise don't rate at all. It was my pleasure helping you.

Dead Toshiba A100 laptop computer

In order to replace the power jack in your laptop you’ll have to remove the jack from the motherboard as I explained in the previous post: Replacing DC power jack.
While removing the jack you can accidentally pull out the internal copper coating (I’ll call it a sleeve) from the inside of the “+” terminal as it shown on the picture below.
9807c6d.jpg
The internal copper sleeve has been removed and cannot be installed back. If you solder the power jack back on the motherboard without this sleeve it might work but the connection between the “+” lead and motherboard will not be reliable.
In the following guide I explain how to fortify a damaged power jack connection. You can use this repair technique in some laptops with similar power jacks.
Laptop is dead. How to troubleshoot the problem. In this post I’ll explain how to troubleshoot a dead laptop and find the problem. The following troubleshooting tips are not model and brand specific, they should work for most laptops.
Let’s take a look at two different scenarios.
Example 1. The laptop is absolutely dead.
When you plug in the power adapter and press on the power button, there is no signs of life at all. The laptop will not make usual noises, LEDs will not light up, the fan will not spin, the screen is blank and black, etc… In short, the laptop is dead.
What you can do in this case?
1. Make sure the wall outlet is working and the laptop DC adapter is getting power from the outlet. Try another wall outlet.
2. Test the laptop DC power adapter, make sure the voltage output is correct. You can test the DC power adapter with a voltmeter.
3. Let’s say the DC adapter is fine and the adapter outputs correct voltage. In this case unplug the power adapter from the laptop, remove the battery, wait for 1-2 minutes, plug in the adapter and try turning on the laptop again.
OK, you tested the adapter and it’s bad. If you decide to replace the original DC adapter with a generic one, you’ll have to follow this rule:
The voltage output on your new adapter has to be exactly the same as on the original adapter. The amperage on the new adapter could be the same or higher.
If nothing helps and the laptop is still dead, apparently the motherboard is fried or there is a problem with the DC power jack. It’s possible the DC power jack is broken and the motherboard is not getting any power from the adapter. In this case you’ll have to disassemble the laptop and replace the power jack. Check out thisguide for fixing laptop power jack.

My amp went into protect

See my solution for: http://www.fixya.com/problems-solutions/t115301,p424435/Eclipse-Car-Amplifiers.aspx And they shouldn't need a schematic unless they can't read the part numbers of the fried components.
