FAN ERROR From your experience with projectors, would you say the air flow sensor is embedded in the fan itself or is it elsewhere? Any idea what it looks like? Thanks again

If power indicator light red and warning indicator red flashing than according to user manual :-
The projector has been cooled down enough and the temperature returns to normal. When turning ON the projector the WARNING indicator stops flashing. CHECK AND CLEAN THE AIR FILTER.
Experience:- 1. if the temperature is very low than temperature sensor maybe misbehave.
2. If anyone fan not working
so please you check fans.
(If lamp or lamp ballast unit faulty than after a time period the lamp indicator light ON not a warning indicator. I experience many times if any fan in projector are broken or jamed the temperature light if present otherwise warning light ON or flashing)

First, to rule out true overheating, clean any dust filters and air-access areas. There might be enough dust on the filter to cause a gradual build-up of heat which could trip one of the temperature sensors in the unit. I clean my projector once a week--There might be a cooling fan going bad--after a while, heat causes the fan motor to start to drag and slows down the air flow. Also, there might be a temp sensor that is shutting down the unit prematurely.--Rick

Most projectors have air filters. Yours may need to be removed and cleaned. No air flow = overheat.

I'm not familiar with your specific model, but I do work on projectors all the time (some as large as 35000 lumens). DO NOT touch the lens area. Any movement of those panels will require a reconvergence procedure which is neither easy nor cheap. Use canned air to clean the area of dust. That is about all you can do.

There are air flow sensors in the unit as well which you may have blocked up when you blew out the fans. If those sensors do not detect air flow, the assumption is that there is a fan error. Try removing the fan and cleaning the entire air flow path.

The Service Manual says:

E02D05 Airflow fan error
Fan rotation could not be detected while the air flowfan as running.

Probable problem locations
Air flow fan, engine controller, system controller

Remedy
1. Cable connection check (check - replace
2. Replace air flow fan
3. Replace engine controller
4. Replace system controller

Have you checked vents for blockages & ensure fan can rotate freely.

With most projectors there is a foam air filter behind a grill that is the opening to the cooling channels. A fan ensures air flow to cool the lamp, etc. This filter prevents dust from gumming up the works (and depending on design) may prevent dust getting into the optics. As the filter gets dirty it gradually cuts off the air and at some point a protective circuit kicks in and turns off the lamp.
If the projector is on you will feel a stream of hot air coming out of the exit vent. Projectors vary in terms of amount of air flow, so its difficult to define what is normal for a specific model. However, you can simply hold a hand in front of the vent and see if there is air flow (It will be hot air so, careful). If there is a "good" stream of air things are fine, but if only a very light flow is felt the filter may be dirty.
If the filter has not been cleaned or replaced recently make sure the projector is turned off and cooled down then take off the inlet cover and remove the filter. Clean or replace per the instructions for the projector (and periodically as defined .. but taking into account the operating conditions). Once cleaned turn on the projector and feel the "normal" air current for future reference.
Heat is one of the major causes of projector failure, so make sure cooling vents (inlet and outlet) are not obstructed and filters are kept clean
