I have a DDTV stb hooked up to a Sharp Aquos 42 inch of 2004. The image is very bad with all solid colours having a fake texture (repeated square pattern) and all the edges are smudged to the left in all rgb colours forming a kind of coloured shadow for everything especially the darker edges. Capacitors (mostly on power supply circuit but also other cards) low capacity (due to old age and poor quality). Need specialized service.

SOURCE: images go suddenly darker

Turn off the the OPC feature in the Menu. If that doesnt help, what youre seeing is most likely the Advanced Dynamic Contrast going to work. In layman's terms, it automatically adjusts the contrast depending on the video signal it is receiving. If you want to disable this, change the AV settings to "User" (button underneath the bottom door on the sharp remote)

SOURCE: SHARP aquos 1080p HDTV: VCR image flickers when playback

I have the same model TV and the following worked for me. I am using A/V cables attached to Input1 on back of the TV.

On your Sharp TV remote control:
1. Select the Input (1-5) that is attached to your VCR.
2. Go to the menu and select options.
3. Change your color system to NTSC.

This should stop your picture frome flashing on and off.

You still may have a issue with the screen colors. I don't know of a way to address this, other than to make the picture monochrome.

Hope this helps.

SOURCE: my sharp aquos picture has got

Sharp Aquos is a bit like saying Ford Estate . Without the model advice is a bit bland
There are know issues where the digital decoder can cause the main software to crash.
Although its not a DIY fix the updated software and a reset is often the cure fir this kind of issue,
If it is a software issue its the kind of thing we do over coffee break!

SOURCE: Failed to receive broadcast E202 Sharp

What do you mean exactly when you say "failed to receive broadcast"? Does it not get a signal of any sort? What about from DVDs, do you have a DVD player attached, does that work? Did it used to work just fine with regular TV signal?

Thanks, let me know more and I can definitely help!

How do I fix my Sharp tv model LC-42D62U? On the tv screen now shows horizontal lines with repeating ghost images.

Hi Paul,
The horizontal lines on the screen are virtually NEVER caused by a bad T-con board. These horizontal lines indicate a defective LCD panel (screen). The Screen has small ICs that become defective overtime and that it isn't fixable unless replacing the entire screen.

Black square on screen that covers half the picture appeared on my 42" sharp aquos tv.

sounds like you might have PIP turned one (picture in picture) .. if there is no input hooked up for the PIP . you will just get a black screen ... you should be able to move that PIP around and change its size .. indeed turn it off .. look for a menu item called PIP .. select PIP off ..
