Turn off the the OPC feature in the Menu. If that doesnt help, what youre seeing is most likely the Advanced Dynamic Contrast going to work. In layman's terms, it automatically adjusts the contrast depending on the video signal it is receiving. If you want to disable this, change the AV settings to "User" (button underneath the bottom door on the sharp remote)

I have the same model TV and the following worked for me. I am using A/V cables attached to Input1 on back of the TV.
On your Sharp TV remote control:
1. Select the Input (1-5) that is attached to your VCR.
2. Go to the menu and select options.
3. Change your color system to NTSC.
This should stop your picture frome flashing on and off.
You still may have a issue with the screen colors. I don't know of a way to address this, other than to make the picture monochrome.
Hope this helps.

Sharp Aquos is a bit like saying Ford Estate . Without the model advice is a bit bland
There are know issues where the digital decoder can cause the main software to crash.
Although its not a DIY fix the updated software and a reset is often the cure fir this kind of issue,
If it is a software issue its the kind of thing we do over coffee break!

What do you mean exactly when you say "failed to receive broadcast"? Does it not get a signal of any sort? What about from DVDs, do you have a DVD player attached, does that work? Did it used to work just fine with regular TV signal?
Thanks, let me know more and I can definitely help!
