Question about Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ1 Digital Camera

Download pics

For the first time I am trying to download pics from my DMCFZI. I have a Mac and the manual doesn't give a lot of info for it. When I am in PhotoImpression cannot bring pics from my camera in as it says can't find Twain library in my system. I have no clue as to what I am doing and would really appreciate some help.

Clear all the windows from your desktop and click the desktop so you are in the finder, then plug in the USB cable from your computer to camera and turn the camera on. You should see something appear on the desktop which is about the size of a usual icon. It's the camera's memory card "mounting" as a drive. It acts like an external disk drive that you have just plugged in. Click it to open, there may be a few levels of folders. One of them should contain your pics. When you find them, go back one level sothat you can simply drag the file full of pics onto a suitable location on your hard drive, such as the "pictures" folder if you are using OS X. It should start copying automatically. Don't just drag it onto the desktop, as it may disappear when you "unmount" the drive. When you finish copying, close the windows and drag the mounted drive to the trash (don't be scared of that). The trash icon will look like an up arrow if you are on OSX. When the drive disappears from the desktop, you can turn off the camera, then disconnect it.

You sould use iPhoto as the default image capture App, and then export to or import from PI after that. This is of course assuming you're talking about OS X (X.2 - Jaguar +, not X.1) and not OS 9. If you are still using OS 9, then I'd hazard a guess that you did'nt install any drivers/extensions for the FZ10 off of the CDs supplied. Have a look and see if there are any - there should be included with the PI software installed. If you're in OS X, then you shouldn't have any problems with it being treated as another external drive. iPhoto should open automatically, and/or display a pop-up asking you to select it as the default App to open when a digital camera is detected.

Windows sees the camera as just another drive. With USB connection I open the folder on camera and copy files to a folder on the hard drive on my PC with Windows Explorer. Or I slip it in my card reader, which windows sees as just another drive.

I have a Panasonic DMC-FX550 Lumix camera. The date and time show on the camera when i play the pictures, but when i connect the camera to the laptop and view them i cannot see the date and time.I have gone...

The camera screen is displaying the "metadata" for each picture as you view them. Your computer screen does not. However, when you download your pics to the computer, the metadata goes with them. If you hover your pointer over each file, the info will appear. You can right-click and get even more info. Some photo editing programs will even give you every detail including the lens opening and shutter speed, the make of camera that took the pic, etc.

How do i download movies from a Panasonic camcorder onto a Mac. The CD provided with the cam is for Windows only. What software exists to down load and save movies from my ?

Hello!!

Try to use Apple iPhoto which is a part of ilife Suite.
If that doesn't help then best method is to use Windows Virtual Machine.

1. Install VMware Fusion for MAC.
2. Install Windows OS in VMware.
3. Boot Windows in VMware.
3. Connect your Camcorder to MAC and it will ask Do you want to Connect it with Windows VM or MAC.
4. Select connect to windows.
5. Install the Drivers from provided Camcorder CD to windows.
6. Now you can transfer Photos and Videos.

P.S. : Alternative method to use Windows on MAC is B0otcamp Drive. And you can also Bootcamp Partition on VMware Fusion which will run Faster than any other VM Machine.

Bootcamp Installation On :

OS X 10.6. : http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/Boot_Camp_Install-Setup_10.6.pdf
OS X 10.5 : http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/Boot_Camp_Install-Setup.pdf
MacBook Air : http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/Boot_Camp_Install-Setup_Late2010.pdf

Hope it Solves your Problem.

I got a new mac and I tried to download the pictures from my canon SD360 camera, like a used to do in my old computer mac as well, I download the software Kodak EasyShare that I used in my old computer,...

The old software may not be compatible with the new operating system in your new mac. You could always use a separate card reader to download your pics...works without special software.

I can't seem to get Audacity to see the G-Track USB microphone on my MAC. I set all the preferences - but did not download any drivers?

I'm not familiar with Macs but try going to http://audacity.sourceforge.net/download/beta_mac and look at the system requirements for the version you need. The Help tab on the site contains lots of info too. Great program. I'm using the newest beta version om Windows and found that the manual is quite useful once you find it on their site.
